I would say this would be one of the best p4p fights ever.

I did read many articles on ESPN etc. about this mythical matchup. We all know Floyd says he is the p4p GOAT and not Robinson or anyone else.
Most experts rank Robinson as p4p Nr. 1 ever, and most experts believed either Robinson would win a decision or it would be a draw.

I would say SRR was the total package. His defense was arguably not as great as Floyds, but not bad as well. While the offensive of SRR was deadly, while Floyds offensive is not that great.
Not bad but not great imo.

When this questions comes up, i always bring up following fights:

    1) SRR vs Arturo Gatti / Mickey Ward
    2) Floyd vs Gatti / M. Ward

I believe SRR could beat Gatti and Ward in a war, but also on a point decision only boxing with them.
But i do not believe Floyd would beat Gatti and Ward in a war, only in a very comfortable UD (like he actually did with Gatti).

Mayweather vs Robinson -> I say SRR wins a 12 or 15 rounds decision, being more active and more complete then Mayweather jr.

Your thoughts? I am very exciting about this... :D
I am sure it this matchup was here already...but i didnt see it.

Mayweather wasn't a natural welterweight. The competition he faced at welterweight
consisted of well past prime fighters like Mosely , Deloyhoya , and Judah,
or fighters like him that came up to welterweight, like Pac, Marquez , etc, whom were not near as effective as they were at Featherweight, or fighters that simply wasn't that special, like Ortiz, Baldimir, Berto and Hatten.
Or that complete travesty to get the easy 50th win McGregor.
Robinson punched like a Middleweight, at welterweight, he could match or possibly be even faster than Mayweather Jr at the weight.
Mayweather had nothing to make Robinson respect him. I believe Robinson stops him at welterweight. And their are other welterweights I believe would stop him also.
Robinson's physical advantages of height and strength, and power. His facing much better competition, and his activity, plus he would match Mayweather in boxing know how, or skills. Theirs no department one can actually point to and say Mayweather had a definite advantage. Possibly defensively, and even that's suspect because who he faced at welterweight, and more importantly, whom he choose NOT to face.
Smoke and mirrors is what he's done at welterweight. He has managed his career brilliantly by fighting the least threatening opposition for the most money.
In that area he is the greatest of all.
But in my opinion I can think of at least 10 welterweights that would beat him convincingly, and a few of those 10 stop him. 1st on my list would be Hearns, 2nd would be Robinson.

Floyed never faught anyone near the calaber of Robinson it's hard to call but I'd say Floyd would put up real fight up to the tenth round but even finding some success but Robinson would be offensively to much. I'd go for a 12th round ko for Robinson

The Sugar man gets a decision over Floyd and it's not that close. Robinson may even score a Kd or two over his opponent.

Mayweather is a flat out better boxer than Robinson and makes far less defensive mistakes. Therefore he should outbox Robinson. Robinson's chance is to force the fight and to win by KO because I don't see him landing with the accuracy Mayweather would land at.

I believe that in this classic forum the great boxers of the old school past are mythologized as untouchable Olympian gods but the reality is that even their blind fans know deep down that many modern boxers could beat them that is why they go crazy with rage every time someone has the guts to say it even while being against the masses of fans.

Of course Robinson was very modern for his time and the guy could make everything he was very complete but he was a boxer from the 40s-50s.
The boxing improved a lot since then.
This would not be a walk in the park for him.
Mayweather would have been viewed also as incredible in the Robinson era.

"Sugar" Ray Robinson by murder! First of all Mayweather would NEVER agree to a match with Ray...
