Speedwise they are about equal. Floyd has a talent edge, but the weight advantage would be definatly for Norris. Interesting fight 12 Rounds. 154 Pounds. Jr. Middleweight.
I know Mayweather doesnt get much luv here at 147 or above, but the man is still a boxing genius at times imo, he would be in there with a guy who was fast and a killer in this one, and would get beat imo. But Mayweather IS better than Norris i would just like to add here
I see a lot of people siding with the inconsistant and chinny "Terrible Terry". So, I'll take the minority and go with Floyd Mayweather jr. Here's why: Floyd Mayweather, while not as strong as Norris, would have a considerable advantage as far as technique and defense. Norris would be stalking Mayweather, looking for a KO, and Mayweather would tag him with check-hooks, right hands, and clinching in between. Norris may score a knockdown at some point (mid-rounds, maybe?), but Mayweather, at his very best, would be able to return fire, stay smart, and take home an eventful decision. Remember: you have to take the two boxers at their very best in these ATG matches. And Mayweather, at his very best, would win a decision over Norris.
Mayweather, at his very best, was nowhere near 154 pounds. Given his level of difficulty with an aging Oscar at 154, I'd say without question that a prime Norris would give Floyd hell and beat him up pretty good en route to a Wide UD, if not late stoppage. Floyd is nowhere near his best at this weight.
Well, best at the respective weight they would be competing at.:hey And, looking back at Norris resume, he sure was DQ'ed quite a bit for a world class boxer ... maybe Mayweather frusterates him early, goades him into hitting after the bell or behind the head? Or hitting Mayweather while he is down? I mean, it's possible. I'm surprised to see how many DQ losses he has.
And you think someone with one close win at the weight over an aged boxer would be better than one of the top 5 of all time at the weight, and the naturally bigger fighter?
Not really, I can't even convince myself. I tried, though, give me credit.:bbb Yup, at the end of the day, Norris was a bigger, stronger fighter with exceptional handspeed (faster than Floyd at this weight, IMO), much more experienced at this weight, and a solid puncher at that. Mayweather would find little sucess early, and Norris would track him down, beat him at near everything, and after a good, grueling fight (mostly grueling for Floyd), Norris would stop him, IMO, later, around the eighth round. If Mayweather solely wants to survive, or is hungry enough, he may last a little later, but I don't think he goes the distance, he just has not fought enough guys at 154 to make a case for that, even with Oscar he was troubled.
