Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Thomas Hearns

Nothing landed. Actually Oscar landed a good right hook and Floyd took it and smiled at him. So talk about a chin. He actually landed single digits in a few rounds. Thats why I say people seriously miscalculate Floyds defensive abilites and ability to adjust. Did anyone see Floyd using Hattons tactics against him?

That fight was a UD and in noway a split.

 

Damn you Floyd nuthuggers come up with the most ridiculous topics. If you guys thought Paul Williams was a nightmare for Floyd, just think of what Heanrs would do, who was like 3x the better boxer then Williams. Hearns would tag Mayweather his jab, left hook, and right cross. Floyd won't make any adjustments that can beat Hearns, because the only way to beat Hearns was to get inside and brawl, which Mayweather is too small to do. And if he fights on the outside, he will be eating Hearns jab, either way Hearns by TKO8.

 

People say the way to beat floyd is the jab. I dont see it. Oscar stopped throwing the jab because he kept getting countered. Not because he was forgettful or not executing his gameplan. Floyd likes to lower his body to an opponents waist, especially an opponent with a large reach (Corrales, Ndou) and so basically you are throwing a horizontal jab, then once he ducks it he throws his shoulder into your midsection and goes to work, or he starts off with a right hand lead and then throws his shoulder into your ribcage.

 

And you Floyd haters make the dumbest arguments I have ever seen. you just said Floyd cant brawl, muther****er did you or did you not see Saturdays fight? Thats exactly what he did. He roughed Hatton up.

Best right hand lead in history. Best defense arguably in history. Hearns Jab, Floyd right hand lead, shoulder to the midsection, upper cut get out. Rinse repeat. Dont see that happening? I do.

Hearns would win a UD. But not a knockout no ****ing way. Never been touched.

 

Hearns could beat Mayweather because he's just simply too big. I can understand how Mayweather can cause some problems for Hearns, but Hearns had one of the fastest jabs in boxing, he will land that jab and the straight right, and once he does it's over. And if he needs to, he can also brawl just to simply manhandle him then KO Mayweather with a left hook to the body. This topic has been before, and you're not going to change anyone's opinions.

 

I'm not saying he can't brawl, but I can't imagine Mayweather trying to brawl with Hearns like Iran Barkley did. Hearns would outmuscle him. And sure Mayweather can brawl with someone smaller then him.

Hearns wins. but because of Floyds quickness and defense, no knockout.

 

I am well noted on saying that Hearns beats Floyd...his boxing skills and reach. Roger Mayweather said the same thing on 24/7.

 

Hard to see floyd KO'd. He would finish the fight but at the cost of not doing nearly enough offensively to win. UD

See I gave you plenty of factual evidence on the career's of SRR and SRL and how they compare to Floyd, but you simply IGNORE. 1) Hatton is not Hearns. He's about 7 inches shorter. And his reach? ****, that must be nearly 12 inches shorter. And has nowhere near the power of Hearns. Nor the skill. shall I go on.

2) If 5'7 Floyd tries a right hand lead against 6'2 Hearns, he's going to get brutalised. If Floyd tries his "dip down to the opponents waist technique" he is really really in trouble. Hearns had a very lethal (and much under rated) left hook to the body.

Floyd starts that, Hearns just cuts down on the jab, and starts throwing that punch . Rinse and repeat. Follow up with the right hand when applicable.


There's no disgrace in not being as good a welterweight as Thomas Hearns, jesus.

 

Sort of like how it wouldn't be fair if Shaq could shoot like Larry Bird and was as quick as Gary Payton.
