The only reason Thomas Hearns was chinney is because he was thin in the legs, that's why his chin got better when he moved up in weight. Hearns is a big guy, even as a welterweight he looked like a middleweight. He has a tall frame, very broad shoulders, then all of a sudden you look at his legs it's really thin. Depsite not having the best chin, he always overcame that with heart and toughness.
Very true..people sometimes forget how much hagler tagged him in the second round of their fight..he took some bombs and stood there... After wobbling Hagler initially, he pretty much was getting beat
I'd go with Hearns by TKO/KO mid-to late rounds. However, Floyd's pretty freakin' impressive and I'd give him about a 30% chance of winning. Interesting how this matchup shows almost all the posts I've seen here vote Hearn's. Given this unscientific evidence it's hard to rank Floyd real high on the alltime P4P list since they are both legitimate welterweight champs.
True, but also badly skewed. Floyd went from what, 130-154? Hearns 147-175. (Ignoring his end of career cruiserweight bouts). So Hearns starting point is basically the end point of Floyds weight classes, in a P4P sense.
Understood, but it does not matter to me. They are both welterweight champs. If Hearns beats PBF @ welter, he's a better fighter than Floyd. It's all part of a fighters legacy.
This is like comparing Ali and Calzaghe. Both great fighters, but one is to big for the other. PBF was great at lighter weights but he has picked his mark since 140. PBF would lose to Margarito, Williams and possibly Cotto. These fighters would get KTFO by Hearns.
Great post homie. And not only because Tommy is one of my top3 of all-time favourites. The fact is Floyd would be lucky to hear the final bell in this one...It would be similar to the Benitez fight....Tommy had very fast hands...killer right hand and amazing reach. Hearns KO10.
