Floyd Mayweather Jr. wins 2012 "Best Fighter" ESPY

That is #4 for PBF.

Other nominees were WBC & WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward, and two mixed martial artists from the UFC.

The awards show, being televised live on ESPN in a 2.5 hour event, did not even show the presentation of the Best Fighter. They hardly ever do. :roll:

It must have been during a commercial break, or during the video piece introducing Pat Summit as the winner of the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage. (since tweets about Mayweather winning popped up around the time that was on)

 

I only had this stupid program on to see whether PBF or SOG won, or one of those MMA clowns. :-( All those corny Rob Riggle jokes for naught.

 

They don't. It's a running joke. They may as well not bother even acknowledging combat sports by having the category, when they just disrespect it year after year. (and disrespect boxing by lumping it in with trendy MMA after dissolving the Best Boxer Award a few years back)

 

Funny thing is Twitter is lit up with bitter MMA fans (who've never even heard of Ward, and probably DKSAB period except that someone told them Mayweather is a cowardly ducker) saying that he doesn't deserve it over "Bones" or "Spider". :nut
