    They explained it on the awards show on ESPN, multiple times.

    That's great that you found two links on the internet that said something, great job - but whoever updated the Wiki page and Ring website didn't adequately do their homework. :conf

    Trust me, you don't know WTF you're talking about. The nominees across all the categories included persons, teams and events that were under consideration in the first half of 2012. It wasn't the "2011 ESPY awards" being presented in 2012. It was the 2012 ESPY awards, for which the eligible period is July 2011-June 2012. The Cotto win factored in.

    ...then Mayweather wouldn't have won. He's the best of the field, but the least popular. (OK, maybe he has a slightly bigger fan base than Ward whose backing is mostly concentrated in Cali...but compared to a Silva, Jones, Pacquiao...)

    No I defintely think Mayweather would still have won but in any case I think Andre Ward is by far the most deserving. If not him then Jon Jones should have won.
