How would you make a profile of this guy? What is your general opinion on him? Not just about his skills and talent, the competition, but the way his overall career has gone? What are his strengths? His weaknesses? What would be the criticisms that you can throw against him? Are they justified? Where do you think he can be placed in the ATG list once he finishes his career?

If you are making a one paragraph overview of him, how would it be like?

I was posting in a thread pitting him against Tito Trinidad in a fantasy match-up, when I read a post saying he won't fight a guy his same size. And that was the only message that poster wrote there, I think. I find it funny because here is a guy who is extremely talented but the first thing people would say is his way of picking the opponents.

Anyway, I would love to know your general view and opinion on him.:good

He picks the best pay days. He WILL fight Pac/Cotto then Moseley. People need to shut their vaginas up and be patient. It WILL happen.

You cant say he ducked guys until he retires cos he may still fight them. I think his resume is very underrated. He cleaned out super fw, beat the best at LW, beat one of the best at 140, he was lookin to fight tszyu but he got beat and retired, and he always goes after the wbc belt. He fought judah who was the man at ww til he got beat and then he fought the man who beat him and who was ranked the champ at that weight. He also beat DLH at his weight and i think DLH was ranked no.1 at LMW. He doesnt pick on small fighters like people say as marquez is the only guy he fought smaller than him and he was ranked 2p4p. Overall he has beaten 14 world champions, I think dont quote me on it. And he was undisputedly recognised as p4p best in the world for 3 years and is still undefeated. I think all that is excellent and hard to match. I hope he fights mosley and pac/cotto winner and if he does and wins he would definatley be in the top 20 of all time IMO.

The defensive fighter of his generation, his early career had him on track to compare to the best in history. His post 135lbs campaign has come under criticism from many quarters, yet still he has won the lineal 147 pound title and defeated the lineal 140lbs chapmion, even though that fight was at 147.

Came back after a 2 year layoff to take on the p4p#2 fighter on the planet and utterly dominated the much smaller outgunned JMM.

Of all active US fighters today, is probably the most recognised fighter in the country due to appearances on Dancing with the Stars and WWE.

Now if he would just fight some of the welterweights in the division, he might well shut up all his detractors, or he might not.

Either way, his nuthuggers on the ESB board will still be more unbearable than any other nut parasite that modern fighters collect.

I think he needs to step up his danger factor when picking his last couple of opponents to satisfy the purists( myself included) who feel he hasnt shown his true greatness.....in other words he hasnt found his Joe Frazier .... and it seems as if he's reluctant to find him and truly test his possible ATGreatness.

You there, back in the day, you fought a lot to build interest in those pay days. Now, the jerks just demand the paydays. This is why I love the Super 6 tournament and hate these PPV events being pushed at us. Still, if a million dummies want to waste their money on Money fighting Marquez, that's their business.

He will be remembered as a good defensive boxer but, his legacy will be questioned.
