If Castillo and Maidana give Floyd problems. What would Duran do? Leonard probably beats Floyd comfortably.

As far as all time ranking on face value I’d likely have Leonard ahead at welter but realistically Mayweather could be one of the most accomplished welters in history. I mean people talk about Floyd like Leonard didn’t have controversy around his fights with Duran and hearns.
For one Duran was a career lightweight who beat him in the first fight and his first fights at the weight it’s also known that Leonard set up the rematch when he did because he knew Duran was out of shape and when you factor in how he fought in that rematch idk see how you can be mad at Floyd for his performances. Vs hearns while sugar ray did pull out the stoppage wasn’t he behind on every card and losing badly after 13/14 rounds before managing to get a dramatic come from behind stoppage that’s the type of stuff a guy like wilder gets bashed for. Not going to bring up hagler since that’s a middleweight right not welter.

but again from someone who would have ray higher at welter from mayweathers perspective in his 4th division which was Leonard’s 1st he won the lineal title within 3 fights(Baldomir), beat the last 2 undisputed champs b2b(Judah&Baldomir) beat a lineal JWW Champ who held a welter title also. Beat a P4P top 3 rated champ(Mosley), beat his biggest rivals biggest rival (Marquez), also beat some young champs in his older age(Ortiz who turn into a flop, Guerrero, & Maidana) and he beat another fellow ATG and standout of this era who is STILL dominating the division (Pacquiao) a solid case can be made even if you don’t agree

Floyd got ran out of the gym by a member of the Fab Four lite in Erik Morales and that was when Floyd was the champ at 130 and Morales was all the way down at 122. And you think Floyd would've even contemplated going within sniffing distance of any members of the original Fab Four? :risas3:

Ray most certainly has better wins than Floyd, no doubt about it. I'm not going to argue that. But don't put prime ATG wins and bag the other for not having prime ATG's. Leonard was doing what many accuse Floyd of doing whilst Floyd was still in nappies.

Leonard (25) fought Hearns who was 23 years of age at the time, who for some dumb reason thought it would be a good idea to come in at 142 on same day weigh ins which is lighter than what he usually came in at. Ray was losing the fight convincingly and got the stoppage late in the 13th round to a completely gassed Hearns.

Also there was a change of tactics which gave Ray some success, but Hearns rallied back and took over again and by the 13th round on every scorecard Ray had to win by knock out. Didn't fight Hearns again for another 8 years.

Duran had hardly any time to accimilate to WW and beat Leonard the first fight. Second fight the conditioning of Duran is still in question due to his party habits and ballooning up between fights. SRL took advantage of that. Which he mentions in an interview as to why he wanted a rematch immediately.

Hagler was at the tailend of his career and so was SRL who came out of retirement.

Those wins are all better than any of Floyd's wins. Calling one side's win prime and the other not shows you're either bias, or ignorant. El Radar is the one unquestionable ATG win Leonard has over a prime fighter.

    Lol at the floyd hate

I don't think he would beat ray at 147, as that was the weight ray started. Floyd started at 130

How do you guys feel ray would do against someone like Jones at 168??

I can tell you, jones would beat him like a dog much easier than Ray would handle floyd at 47

Floyd would lose a competitive decision

    Nostalgia is ridiculous in boxing

The original editor of ring magazine always felt dempsey would beat Ali too lol

The only way Floyd has a shot at going unbeaten in that era is if he ducks all the Four Kings, Benitez, and Pryor.

So are those who claim Mayweather is the best ever.

He wasn't better than Leonard under any measure. Leonard has the better resume, was more skilful, and would win the head to head.

What do you mean that’s the kind of stuff Wilder gets bashed for?

Wilder gets bashed because he’s often struggled with much lesser fighters, despite having huge physical advantages, before his power has bailed him out of trouble.

Ray and Hearns were 2 ATG fighters.

    The circumstances were completely different.

Hearns had significant physical advantages over Ray and he was a great fighter.

There was no disgrace at all in getting outboxed by a much bigger fighter who possessed Hearn’s ability.

    Nobody ever outboxed Hearns.

Ray was getting outboxed, before he changed tactics and had a shootout.

It’s one of the best wins in the history of the sport.

Hearns outboxing Ray is absolutely nothing like how a B or C class fighter outboxed Wilder.

Floyd beating guys like Mosley or Baldomir doesn’t even come close to what Ray did at the weight.

Floyd definitely ranks lower than SRL all-time, but Leonard had Hearns, Duran, Hagler and Benitez.

It's not Floyd's fault that other than Pacquiao, there was nobody on his level.

Actually only a few have the right to consider themselves greater, no more than 5 in boxing's entire history.
