And believe me......those demfamation suits are quietly settled on out of court to avoid negitive press for those "tabloids"! This suit actually has evidence an proof that will seal Floyd's fate.

There is no such thing as an open and shut defemation of character suit in the U.S.; especially when it involves a public figure. Pac is going to have to prove that Mayweather is attempting to pass off his allegeations as statements of fact rather than his own personal opinion(for example, Clemons tried to sue his former trainer after the guy said he personally injected Clemons). He's going to have to prove that the allegations were made with the specific intent to harm his reputation, and he's going to have to prove that he has actually been damaged financially.

The chances of him actually winning this case are pretty remote(there have probably been less than a handful of public figures who have actually won a defemation of character suit). The best he can hope for is that Mayweather does not want to spend money defending himself and settles. This is probably going to end up like Mosley's lawsuit against Conte. It will drag on forever, and it will eventually be forgotten about by the public.

Yeah...Right. And this is why people sue McDonalds because there coffee is hot, or why they sue McDonalds cuz there kids are fat. Certainly a lawyer wouldn't take the case UNLESS they thought they may win!
You can't slander somebodies name. You can't say things about them like there true whenever it's not proven. Honestly there's to many lawsuits in America, and it's sad whenever these companies that put labels on there dangerous products about being DANGEROUS, and they still lose. All up to the judge.
This won't be one of those though. Look at how much $, and fanbase Pac can lose by somebody spreading lies. Mayweather will be paying a lot of it back though in court.....

That is messing with Pac's $ is the point. Some people actually believe Floyd! I know it's hard to believe, but some people are just idiots...

Maybe not open and shut, but it's heavily favored for Manny. I agree that most cases are opened and without any kind of foundation to stand on.....in this case, Manny has reason to file and has evidence to support his case. The fact is Manny's rep has been impacted and there are financial losses that are likely if his name continues to be the topic of discussion which pulls into question his character. He's a high profile sports and political figure in his country, so there are many elements that will be brought to this case in favor of Manny's suit.

I remember a Chi town bears player won a defamation case against a person who spread lies about him being a former felon. He won like $5mill. While it wasn't open and shut it was a clear victory for the NFL player who's rep was placed under suspicion.

Here's the thing Charlie, these lawsuits are very complicated. The Bears player could at least prove that his accuser was lying pretty easily. How can Manny prove that Floyd is lying? Not only that, but Mayweather isn't in a postition where a reasonable person would take his implications as fact. Let's say Ariza said that Manny was on the juice. He's Manny's conditioning coach, he would know. Mayweather is not involved in Pac's camp, there is noway he would have any credible evidence that Pac is juicing. It's pretty clear he's giving his opinion.

There is also no proof that Pac has been financially impacted. His ticket sales are still strong. The PPV numbers will be good, and I don't believe that he's lost any endorsements. Not only that, but most people are siding with him on the issue. Do you also realize that in a defemation of character suit, you're character is on trial? This is what ****ed Clemons over. Any skeletons that Pac may have in his closet is fair game. The extra marital affairs and any other morality hiccups would be aired out in public. I'm not sure if Manny wants to go through that.

The bold part. yes. This is the basis of any defamation/libel/slander suit. If Floyd is using puffery or opining they have nothing. He needs to make an untrue statement of fact. This steroid juice thing is the closest I've seen Floyd JUNIOR make to an untrue statement of fact, and I don't think this will even cut it.

And yes, obviously Floyd is running his mouth and implying that Pac is juicing, but I have yet to hear or read him saying anything that incriminates him. Sorry, I know this will open me up to a lot of ridicule from people who think it benefits the sport to have boxing's two biggest stars engaged in a legal battle rather than workin out the terms of a boxing match.

I think this case is about cutting GB out of their piece of Pac. You start this **** about someone you are supposed to have an interest in promoting? Not a lawyer, but seems like bad faith to me.
