    Selling PPVs by the millions.

Before long after his release from prison, he seemingly was throwing one punch at a time. Without the defense.

    Pacroid is void. :hi:

What about teh Bummy Douglas fight in 1990??? ****ing joke that was,,, Tinkerbell threw 18 punches compubox average a round nearly all risky lead-rights what were sloppily swung like a bloody moron. And his defense VS Duster Buglas was him blocking combo punches with his chin!! What a knuckle-dragger! :patsch:patsch:patsch

 Yeah....he got his ass kicked bad. "Erracticboxing" used to have a HL on that fight (that has been taken down) and when clips of that fight are bunched up you realize....DAMN!!!! I knew it was bad but that bad....that is a major beat-down. The combinations were sick and the punches were bouncing off Tyson's dome like bowling balls off of the roof of a car. So much for being "elusive."

Tyson is just an interesting fighter to look at and study. Style alone, how good he got only to decline so fast. His fluidity alone just declined so rapidly it was like WTF...seriously ?
And the fact that he didn't realize it or if he did...he couldn't man up and fix it.

That is what I think is a big stain on his legacy...his failure to make the right decisions.

I think he got what he deserved against Douglas.
One fighter did the right things to win (through the course of the year) and the other didn't. Good lesson.

It was a masterclass in shitty performance.

How about that corner of his? :rofl

I used to get pissed when people called him a waste of talent, but really when all you can be argued for is maybe the 7th Greatest HW of all-time and you have that kind of ability, you were.

Good post Caelum, I agree that Mike got what he deserved, but he also deserved an immediate rematch.

Really Mike was the top man in the division since he beat WBC Champ Berbick in '86 (**** Spinks, he didn't beat Holmes in the rematch), then he was Heavyweight Triple Crown Unified WBC, IBF & WBA Champ from beating Tucker in '87 (underrated performance, Tucker only won two rounds). So for Tyson to be "The Man" for all that time, & drop Buster for 14 seconds in the 8th of their fateful fight in '90, but be refused a rematch, was pretty disgraceful. Most of all, I wish Douglas had the motivation to try & seek redemption following his embarrassing loss to Holy, instead of eating himself into a life-threatening diabetic coma. Imagine Tyson-Douglas II in '91 as a title eliminator, instead of Tyson-Ruddock. Obviously though, i'd desperately want Buster to come in top shape, so Mike could prove his haters wrong (& help his legacy). With supreme mental & physical conditioning, debilitating body barrages, use of his dynamite straight righthand, explosiveness, Giachetti in his corner, even some brutal combination punching & counters in there... I'd heavily pick Iron to emerge victorious.

Müller could've made him a better corner!

    Totally agreed. :good

off topic but I happen to notice a slight bit of a scar over his left eye was he ever cut in a fight? Guess it could have happened in sparring too?

    You're right.

Very tongue-in-cheek way of expressing dissapointment with post-prison Tyson. Bruno II was by far the best he'd look.

He became a fighter that walked straight in looking to land his homerun bomb and be out, completely abandoned the jab, utilized little-to-no head movement, no longer possessed the foot speed to recover from his misses, neglected body punching, threw almost nothing resembling the form of combinations outside of basic 1-2's and by the time he got to Holyfield, even that became a struggle. He was soundly outboxed for the better part of five rounds by Francois Botha for christ sakes and couldnt get two punches off at a time to save his life.

Hell, a lot of these things became diminished from 1989-91, but his speed (of both hand and foot) was still ridiculous fast, he still dished out savage shots to the body and could blast off combos much more often. His defense had been gone basically immediately after parting with Rooney and that is the biggest stickihg point for a lot of people; Tyson was damn near impossible to catch flush through 35 fights.
