Max knows more than Bert did about the ins and outs of boxing. I liked Bert, but he was like George Burns with the cigar.

    What? ok.....LOL!
Bert gets my nod because he has decades of stories to tell. Great historian- One thing to hear him on tv another thing to sit in a pub see someone ask him of an obscure fighter & he breaks out the Bert encyclopedia of pugilistic stories.

Like Max they are both lousy at predicting and utterly biased for their own personal boxers.

If I ask my family/friends who Floyd Mayweather is, no one knows. But they all know and recognize the name Mike Tyson.

Mike was the HW Champ of the world at 18. Unified at 21 (IIRC). And the "Baddest man on the planet".

If that's not a legacy, what is?

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, Killer Instinct's TJ Combo, Street Fighter's Balrog/M. Bison. What does the M. might really stand for? It's probably Mike. Even Ippo no Hajime's style resembles Iron Mike's. Helped Stone Cold Steve Austin destroy HBK. Truly influential.

Mayweather of course, although I like Tyson better.

The whole “Floyd handpicked his opponents” thing works both ways, as Tyson fought some very below-average fighters in his post-prison career. Julius Francis, Brian Nielsen, Bruce Sheldon for the title etc.

Tyson is far more well known though, but Floyd is not that far off actually. I have friends who have no interest in boxing, but they still know them both (and the ones who like sports in general know Pacman aswell).

But honestly, while i respect Mayweather a lot, he really seems like a pos. Tyson on the other hand are totally chilled out and relaxed these days, someone you could hang out with if you brought a little grass.

You have to be asking this in two parts, inside and outside the ring. Inside the ring it's laughable while outside the ring both left a lot to be desired.

Mike chinna doll Tyson is b we at known for 3 things
1: losing to the largest DOG in history
2: convicted ******, I suppose that's what over gets going to trial on a **** case with insurance lawyers
    And
3: his one plus how stand up comedy show about his life, I think that's ty as one greatest ever performances.

While fmj is known as the unbeatable, look how much fonder most look Kat Tyson now, give j 15/20 and he'll be a GOD

    Legacy? Floyd, not even close.

    More popularity =/= better legacy.

Mayweather is way in front but Tyson has more name recognition. Your grandmother can pick Mike Tyson out of a line up.

Tyson has the better legacy, but Floyd is the better P4P fighter BY FAR.

Bert knew general stuff which he knew people wanted to hear and it worked for him with the cigar and personality. I never heard evidence of an encyclopedia of pugilistic stories or information. But that is fine. Great personality. Max does not have the personality of Bert, but he knows boxing and the ins and outs.

Tyson was a 6 round fighter. Struggled every time it went beyond.

Tyson. By far. He cleaned out a division in no time, Floyd never came close to.
