Pac's "Mexicutioner" run, and I've said this many many times now, is the greatest thing to happen in Boxing within the last 25 years. Making Morales quit, nearly blasting JMM out in a round, hammering Barerra... And then to BATTER Margarito and Cotto (who Floyd avoided), STARCH Hatton (Floyd's best win up until then) and just give us so many memorable nights/fights, not to mention his epic rise through the divisions, you'd have to be an idiot to put Floyd ahead. Manny is the definition of the word "Legend" and is a pure throwback.
He beat Morales after getting schooled. He got multiple gift decisions against JMM before Marquez KOed his ass. He battered Margarito after Mosley beat him up and knocked him out. Cotto was a good win. He starched Hatton after Floyd starched him first took his 0, sending him into depression. The he got schooled by Floyd himself. He should be grateful to hold Floyd's jockstrap
It proved plenty no version of Pac would ever beat pbf that's what you fail to realize. If you think so you're kidding yourself and are nothing but a wishful thinker. If you can't cut off the ring you're not beating pbf if you don't have a jab you're not beating pbf if you can only fight at one range you're not beating pbf if you go life and death with jmm for 4 fights you're not beating pbf. Pacs own trainer said pbf was the best fighter of this era and 95% of their peers agree and so do most publications everything else is bull****. Pbf>pac period. Sent from my SM-G925T using Tapatalk
Too bad for you roach pacs very own trainer doesn't agree if anything he would say pac is since he's his trainer but he didn't he said pbf.
Only hardcore Mayweather fanatics will laud over their idol, over the longer term. Mayweather will, of course, receive due and polite respect from pundits and historians. However, even then, it will be hard to write anything about him and his career, which summons up any type of nostalgic exhilaration (unless one is a fanatic). More could be and probably will be written about his carefully managed career; slander of key opponents; manipulation of the sport to increase ticket sales and PPVs (at the cost of big fights); his dubious involvement of USADA in a sideshow distraction; ironically, leading to himself coming under suspicion for illegal use of a thera.peutic device. And, that's before we get to his well publicized character flaws. Did he dare to be great? I personally don't think so. There were options available to him that he could have taken, in order to silence his critics and excite not only his devotees but Boxing fans across the board. Alas, he always chose the path of least resistance. If it had only been occasional, a fight not coming off or a questionable opponent selection might have been acceptably explained away. But, with Mayweather, it happened consistently; to the point when it could have been justifiably referred to as a Modus Operandi. Obviously his record will speak for itself, to a certain extent, for all time. He is, on the strength of this and his overall impact on the sport, a shoo-in for the IBHOF but, like all records and accolades in Boxing, it will come under scrutiny from various quarters and angles. Future ana.lysis, in years to come, will be an interesting read; observing how hindsight may or may not frame or re-frame Mayweather's career.
I agree. I do think that Mayweather's career won't be seen well historically unless it comes from the mouthpiece of The Demographic fanbase that Max Kellerman and Dougie Fischer mentioned.
In this limited era, who is greater than Mayweather? Definitely not Hatton, Vlad or Girly Golovkin. IMO, the two greatest fighters of this era are Mayweathher and Pacquiao, in that order. Perhaps had Pac not been managed/promoted by Arum The Tick, his legacy would have been greater than Mayweather.
Pac and May are the greatest of this very limited era - in that order by a massive margin. As I explain here: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=563769
Is it; Maweather, Pac and JMM, OR, Mayweather, JMM and Pac? No doubt that Mayweather has the #1 spot as he has as the #1 P4P fighter in the world, but I think Pac and JMM may be tied for 2nd.
Do you think that back in 09 that Pac was using HGH? He refused blood testing and was offered a 50-50 fight with Floyd.
Never read any posts but couldnt agree more with the title Floyd was 100% for the money And for that he will Never be ranked amongst the best
