Floyd wrecked drained Corrales. Corrales was desperate for that $$ because his lawyer bills hit the roof. That weight cut was dangerous.
ARiza advised him he could get him down safely and for the most part he did his job. As great as Corrales was in this era as a 130-35 pounder, Floyd was just heads over heels better, and 9 out of 10 times Floyd would beat him the same way.
They were the 2 best fighters in the world at 130.. Casamayor and Freitas, we're 3rd and 4th, and that fight between Floyd and Corrales was talked about in 2000 when Chico beat juuko on the delay hoya-Mosley undercard , about 4 months before it was signed for January 2001. So both were peak and primed, besides Corrales signed the contract to fight, and ARiza did a hell of a job getting him down to 130... he wasn't a shell of himself at all.
Corrales couldn't even make weight at the weigh in, he was 2lbs off! 'For the most part he did his job' - how much you hide. This is why people need to stick with me for truth. People, in life, the people you turn to for truth can define you.
He made 130 after he went into a sauna to burn the pounds.. point being he still made weight, even if it was on the second try..
That makes things marginally better, not better 'for the most part' like you were indicating. Yes, he required a sauna, not even a poop or a run.
That's even worse. Corrales was already drained trying to get to the weight, and when he failed, he couldn't dare face a financial penalty because he was in a lawsuit with his ex. He actually hacked himself to make weight.
That's fine, and outside problems affect a fighter in the ring, there's no doubt about that, but he signed the contract to fight Floyd, why must you guys have to make an excuse as to why that diminishes his win? "But it's BS, Castillo got robbed though,"........ Floyd was injured fighting in that match... And it's still talked about today ffs... Give Him His dues.
It diminishes his win because outside and inside the ring, he wasn't THE Corrales. When we're talking resume (especially when measuring against other ATG's and GOAT fighters, we have to scrutinise A LOT. Think about it, look how much we scrutinise Barrera and Morales when they're almost the same in terms of greatness. There's probably four other boxers between them in all time rankings - that's saying something.
You have nothing to explain, your first post was articulate and rationalised all your opinions into indisputable facts. Anyone arguing otherwise are 1 of 2 things: A: Floyd fanboys who see no reason B: Seeking to join a collective on a forum and receiving acceptance for the first time in their lives Usually A and B go hand in hand though.
