Yeah, the first time..I already addressed that and my point is that Floyd then went on to withdraw once everything was accepted. Moreover, none of this changes the fact that Pac was actually semi-shot when Floyd fought him. So it can be a postman's fault technically...that doesn't matter. The fact is, it didn't happen until 2015 and Floyd has no at-or-near prime ATG or even mid tier HOF in his resume in 19 years! Name me one!
Exactly. Marquez deserves the credit for KTFO6. It took away a LOT from Manny, especially psychologically. It just changes a man and it was evident in Manny's style since. He resorted to pure boxing at a level that was to his own detriment.
I hate that these bull**** phrases enter fan lexicon so easily in the age of the internet. Seriously **** this ****. I wish people would dare to think for their ****ing selves rather than just trot out the same old **** they heard someone else say on youtube.
Not exactly. Having an aggressive style, being hit a lot in your career as you take a lot of risks against tough fighters, being at the lower weight classes etc. has an effect on your prime. But most importantly, refer back to the original post where I discuss what 'ring age' is. So either way, yes, Mayweather remained closer to prime, but Pac was semi-shot regardless and so the win is very hollow.
good post! That said, boxing is the height of idiocy. You're taking punches for a living and hurting people for a living. It's a God foresaken sport and for that I am ashamed to say it is a guilty pleasure. But you're in the hurt business. It is in the best interests of his legacy though if he did go out and take the riskier fights etc. This is why my favourite fighter is Vasyl Lomachenko and this is also one of 93493 reasons why I respect Manny more. They dare to be great. Edit - to understand what it means to dare to be great, you must look at the great people of old. This content is protected For example, Spartacus dared to be great to the extent that he gave his life to his cause.
Yes, Conor McGregor dares to be great unlike Mayweather. McGregor took on Jose Aldo, one of the very greatest MMA fighters of all time. Conor has been taking on the riskier fights. Despite this, I will be supporting Khabib Nurmagomedov against Conor.
You don't like to deal in facts do you? Roach stated it was their fault your opinion is irrelevant. After that it was a cold war between both sides for years after. Finally they came together and made the fight but the outcome wouldn't have been any different in 2009 2010 2012 or in 2015 and that was a PBF win. Yeah Pac has a better resume because he had more ATG fighters around his weightclass than PBF did. Name me a prime ATG fighter that PBF could have fought that was in his same weightclass, I'll wait.
Anyone can dare to be great in MMA because the talent pool is so shallow. Hell a WWE wrestler became a champ in the sport right away that right there tells you everything you need to know about it, that will never happen in boxing. PBF is 100000 lightyears beyond that of Conor in terms of skills and accomplishments.
I agree. There were indications that Pacquiao was already on the decline before the 4th or even 3rd JMM fight. Mentally he lost the killer instinct after the Cotto fight. And physically he started a nosedive after the Margarito fight. But the KTFO6 just solidified it. And destroyed Pacquiao mentally and physically to a point no return.
There were none in Pacquiaos weight classes either. He climbed 5 ****ing weight classes to fight ATG'S Barrera and Marquez.
PBF's last prime fight was against JMM but I don't hear anyone making excuses for him do I? The reason why Pac got KTFO against JMM was that he was a flawed fighter and reckless fighter from the jump. PBF would have never come in so wide open like Pac did against JMM which is another testament to his greatness. That KO actually did more good to Pac than it did harm it helped him to become a more complete fighter he actually has better defense and boxes much better now than he did back then.
Yeah according to Roach it was their fault initially, but in the next negotiations, Pac agreed to everything and Mayweather pulled out. It's not even about 'same weight class' - it's about daring to be great and moving up if there's nothing around (don't bring up GGG, I don't care for GGG). Pac defied logic, it wasn't merely being 'around his weight class', he was a former Lineal Flyweight champ who weighed in very light to demolish much bigger men. That's why he's one of the greatest.
Don't think I've ever seen somebody so getting completely knocked unconscious was a psotive thing for a fighters career. Sleeping in boxing is bad.
