I actually remember that... Probably what helped me articulate my thoughts on Floyd.

So fighting three middleweights.. One of which was fighting at Light heavyweight.. Would help his legacy.. Lol. And Pac in 2009.. Sure.. I give you that.. Maybe if Pac wasn't hiding something.. It would've happened. He's 20-25 for me and would probably move up 5 spots with prime Pac on his resume. But this version of Pac is STILL younger than Floyd.

I agree with the 20-25 range but pac clearly was farther away from his 2009 form than Floyd was. SSM, ODLH,JMM,Pac and miguel Cotto are the fighters that will go down as all time greats when its all said and done. Not a single one was at their peak. It's not hating its just the truth

It's not just how good your opponents are that makes you an ATG it's also how good you are and both are based on opinions not facts.

You do realise that your (or whoever's) personal opinion who the ATG top 5-10 are, were fighting today and fought who they fought in their career today, when we have access to all fights online and everyone else's opinions on social media, none of them would be in your ATG top 10 list? They didn't have the millions of people criticising and other people reading it that influences their opinion.

ATG lists will ALWAYS be opinion and nothing more. We will never know who would win out of greats who fought in separate eras to one another. It will only be opinion, and whether you opinion is Sugar Ray Robinson would beat Floyd and Manny or that Robin Deakin would beat Sugar Ray Robinson, your opinion is equally meaningless, because those fights can never happen. I think that's why fans will be so assertive and act as if their opinion is undisputed fact on fantasy match ups that can never happen, but will be more reserved in 50/50 fights that are actually going to happen.

If Ali was fighting in this era and was world champion he'd be one of the most hated fighters there is. He'd get so much **** on social media and that would influence other people opinion too. But right now most people have him as an ATG top 10.

It is difficult to forget the marketing since it has played a huge part in building Floyd up as something greater than he is and, more importantly, people actually believing him to be greater than he really is. Likewise, some of his 'out-of-the-ring' behaviours, e.g. not re-matching De la Hoya; bogus retirement; unfounded accusations of PED use, made against a fellow Boxer, etc. etc. all played their part in upholding the "TBE" image.

Whilst I might agree that he certainly counts as one of the best boxing technicians to have graced the sport, we never really saw too much grit from Mayweather, in my opinion; more occasional flashes of brilliance against mediocre and or worn-out opposition. I would cite his defensive capabilities and composure as the most prominent features of his in-ring game. Floyd's confidence and will to win are reflected in his opponent-selection, both in terms of who and when he fought them.

I certainly agree that Floyd is not the best ever. I find his career wanting and underwhelming, given his obvious talent and the timely opportunities, which were not taken up. I suspect that historical reviews of Floyd Mayweather Jr, in the years to come, will most likely be as divisive as when Floyd was an active boxer. However, I do and will always take the view that his record and legacy will need bolstering, in much the same way as Mayweather apologists have been doing for the past ten years.

Time will not be kind to Floyd. I have always thougt he was good back in his earlier days but somewhere along the lines, he became too defensive minded and literally was content with landing one punch if necessary to win a round.

Resume: Name one fighter he has fought at 147 who ranks 147 ATG? The only response you will get on these boards is "117-110, TBE etc..".

So let me get this right,,,, it's a race thing, you're saying it's because he's black... You have got to be kidding! If you really believe that, then the only racist here is you. The only thing keeping Mayweather from being greater than he is, is Mayweather himself. Not race, not color, not creed and certainly not the fans. Please rise above these ridiculous racially motivated remarks, if ever there was a sport that broke the race barrier, it's boxing.

That's not a knock lol... It is rare to be a prime ATG. ATG tags are administered AFTER retirement.
