People comparing him to the top WWs when talking to his all time status aren't. FMJ only really went to 147 to chase DLH and Mosley, whatever he may say, I'd maintain he's past prime and above optimal weight over 140lbs.

Allot of people don't consider Robinson the best ever at MW, but still consider him P4P no1 ATG. Now I don't consider Mayweather no1 ATG, but he's in a bracket of fighters at their best from 130-140 that included Henry Armstrong, Whitaker, Arguello, Chavez, Duran, Benny Leonard, Barney Ross, Ortiz, Ike Williams, Canzi, Loche. Personally I'd rate him top3 of all time in that group of fighters alongside Duran and Whitaker. I don't think too many from WW beat him but there would be some

Some things right and wrong with this, Hearns ofcourse is a nightmare for nearly any WW in history, he's just too big aswell.

Leonard/Robinson - probably hammer him, but thought Leonard had a few probs with Floyd Sr and Robinson seemed to have a few problems with slicksters himself at times

Galivan had allot of close fights, he gave up his height at times too but I don't know, need to watch more of him to analyse it better

Basilio - top in-fighter but on the outside he's getting owned. He'd be playing catch up and he gets more props than he should for having a win over past prime 37yo Robinson

Whitaker - I do favour Whitaker but why would it be a mismatch? Whitaker struggled at times with similar styles such as McGirt, Hurtado and to a lesser extent Roger Mayweather. He also has height/reach/strength on Whitaker and dedication

Napoles - this would be 1 of the toughest challenges, same size too, great contest and out fighter versus in fighter type match up

Ortiz/Chavez - bothgreat all round boxers but too slow to win a UD, punchers chance

Loche - less complete and less athletic

Griffith - well maybe, but I do think Mayweather's a superior boxer, I'd side with Floyd on that one

Rodriguez - really haven't seen enough of him, but not an invincible boxer

Cuevas - he'd have a field day with

The problems lies with the matchmaking........we all know he would not have that 0 if he didnt cherry pick.

He is hugely talented, perhaps the most talented fighter since Roy Jones prime.........but he cherry picks.

He did well in fighting Castillo in the rematch, but he just isnt active enough and I agree with Flea on one thing older schooled fighters of the past fought far more often against far better comp.

Its a good fight against Cotto but should have happend in 2008-

He wouldn't be anywhere if this was the late 70's to 80's.

Hearns, Pryor, SRL and Duran would of taken his lunch money.

Yet the only division out of the 5 he's fought in that he didn't fight the #1 ranked guy was at junior welterweight, even though he ended up beating him at welterweight eventually and since he's only small at 147 the weight didn't make much difference in that fight anyway.

this is a good post but on Ortiz, not only was he a complete, he was a great spoiler too, I think to say he has a 'punchers chance' is an understatement. He has strength in abundance, and whilst Mayweathers strength is underrated, in Ortiz you've got someone who can switch between working relentlessly as the aggressor to someone who is off setting you on the outside, spoiling and stepping in and out like a pain in the ass. Apart from this, you made a great post..

Still, the no.1 ranked guy at welterweight was ****, Bruseles and Gatti were ****, Ortiz is ****...how did I know you'd poke your head in?

  12. Pryor vs Mayweather would actually be a really good fight.

You'd think Pryor would be a horrible matchup for him, but, H2H aside he did very little.

In fact, his best wins are worthy of the kind of nitpicking yousee given to Floyd's best, 'past it', 'not a natural weight' blah blah blah.

I'd just about favour Pryor to swarm all over him, and make Floyd lead if he gets caught with too many counters, as he did against Arguello. Floyd ain't stopping him thatsfor sure!

Pryor looked poor against southpaws though. Styles make fights and Manny would decimate him IMO.
