http://www.fighthype.com/community/lofiversion/index.php?t8346.html Everything he's said there, he went on to contradict with his future actions. From being content to pot shot an outclassed Baldomir to a decision instead of trying to KO him like he said Winky should've done to Tito, and then crying from the criticism afterwards; to not taking those risky fights he said he needed to be the best ever. He was talking there as if he genuinely wanted to seek great challenges and to prove himself as one of the very greatest. Even tried to make the Winky fight to prove it, and his record before that could not be questioned really (Hernandez in his 18th fight at 130, Manfredy 1st defence, J.Chavez, Corrales & Castillo 1st fight at 135 and have him immediate rematch) . After Winky rejected his offer (because of a rehydration clause Floyd wanted for the day of the fight), Floyd chose a shot Sharmba Mitchell and went ahead with the Judah fight, and the only risky fights he went on to take were De La Hoya, Hatton and Mosley. There were so many more that he could have taken but instead took fights he'd get no credit for like Marquez and Ortiz, aswell as opting for retirements/vacations. By his own admission from that quote, he has failed to prove himself as the best ever, and it's such a shame he wasted alot of his prime. What happened? Was it Al Haymon advising him to avoid certain fights which caused him stopped seeking challenges, when exactly did he meet him? Or was it that he just became so big and had so much to lose that he chose carefully who he fought to protect not only his record but his stature?

But those guys were all old, shot, or green when Mayweather wanted to fight. He should have waited until they were all comfortable with those fights and then conceded to all thier demands and promised to stand in front of them and let then hit him for 2 mins out of every round.
From there, he got away from bob arum and choose money over legacy. Which in truth, if anyone was in his position, they would likely want to make the money that will support their lifestyle until they dont need anymore money.
its from 2005.. doesn't mean sh*t. ever say you wanted to marry a girl but changed ur mind? does that make you a hypocrite?
