Floyd Mayweather reflects on "Easy" knockout of Ricky Hatton, I'm a completely different breed.

There is nothing to shout home about, putting a gloried bum to sleep.

Nauseating listening to his dumb fans giggle like children and applaud every word that comes out of this swindler's mouth as if he is uttering forth pearls of wisdom.

 

I remember the lead up to the fight. Was still in high school. Was at a friends house and we both liked Hattons chances(keep in mind we were both casuals at the time) his old man who's a boxing aficionado butted in and laughed. Said Hatton didn't have a chance in hell and broke down almost exactly how the fight ended up playing out.

 

I don't remember it being that easy for Floyd. Hatton put up a good fight.

 

Hatton put up an good effort simply because he had the ability to close the distance and make PBF work and exert himself with that said he didn't do anything when he did close the distance he mostly either smothered his own work or was beaten up on the inside. I honestly don't think he won a round in that fight and Ledderman's scorecard was one of the worst I've seen from him. PBF's performance against Hatton is underrated, it was a clinic, he beat Hatton at his own game and stopped him.

 

You remember it wrong then old chap, It was that easy for Floyd and he seemed to be amused with Hattons efforts.

 

Does he remember writing Joe Cortez a cheque? Never really thought Ricky would win but that was one of the most shocking displays of favouritism by Cortez.

 

Hattons best weight was 140. Floyd cherry picked the weight for this fight.

 

I don't remember this fight being easy... messy but not hard either.

As in, Cortez allowed Floyd to do things Hatton wasn't allowed to?

I don't think Hatton's weight was the problem, it was the fact that Floyd is bigger.

 

As in Cortez never allowed Hatton to work on the inside Joe was in to split them up before Floyd had even tied Ricky up. Ive rewatched it so many times and ive never felt like im overeacting.

 

Don't go there because it can get ugly with any weight below HW when it comes to weight stipulations.
We can say that:
Kovalev cherry picked Ward from SMW and loss, so he is a hype job LHW.

Pacquiao cherry picked ODLH, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Rios ,Bradley, Algieri and made everyone of these guys either move up or down in weight to fight him so he could have and advantage. Let's take away all those victories.

Golovkin fought mostly 154 lbers on his rise to MW champion. Rosado, Ishida, Ouma, Nunez all fought at 154 before facing Golovkin ,so he is a bully who avoids bigger men.

That type of stuff can go on and on when you nit pick records. CST80 did a thread about that a while back. I'ma bump it.

 

What's interesting about this fight in retrospect is how pale Ricky Hatton looked on fight week and on fight night compared to his usual self. This is certainly one of Floyd's best performances, but if you watch the U.K. presser a few weeks before the fight, the one where Floyd tried to grab Ricky Hatton while he was speaking and Hatton called him a puff, Hatton looked much much more healthy than he did a few weeks later in fight week.

On Fight Week, Hatton was white-as-a-ghost Pale, and looked really unhealthy. At the time, I didn't really think much of it, but in retrospect this was something I noticed when I watched the press tour version of Hatton compared to fight night.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Floyd, but I am trying to understand why Hatton was so pale and what caused him to appear to be so unhealthy. Obviously conventional wisdom is going to say that Hatton was draining himself to make 147 but I don't buy that. All I know was that something about Hatton definetly changed in the weeks leading up to the fight. Hatton looked healthy and tan even on the U.K. press tour, but on fight night he was pale as a ghost. Can anyone explain why that happened?

 

Hatton was better at 140 but he was heading up in weight anyway. Mayweather didnt have to drag him up there.

 

He wasn't "heading up there" he stated after the collazo fight the weight didn't suit him and he'd only go there for the "mega fights"
After the mayweather fight he went straight back to 140 where he stayed right untill the pac fight

 

Somebody give Floyd a nudge and tell him he is retired and boxing is moving on fine without him.
