We're not the ones saying FMJ can beat GGG easily, FMJ is the one who did that. It would be like Joe Cal speaking to the media and saying he could beat Uysk at CW.

At 160, GGG by brutality. Floyd wouldn't be able to lift his arms for a week after the fight.

He told ggg to beat andre ward and hed fight him. Ggg chose to retract his statement about moving up and down and insisted he wanted to unify.

If mayweather failed to "dare to be great" so did golovkin.

    yes...thank you

GGG has made that offer publicly many times: Mayweather @ 154

what's more, for GGG to move down to 154 would be trivial: his 30-day weigh-in for his last five-six fights was around 165 in each instance.

so in his public challenges to Mayweather, GGG has always been explicit that he's go down to 154 for that fight, so i think that's the only scenario we need to consider.

and at 154, i don't think GGG would be drained--not to any noticeable degree. Here's why i say this: look at his weight profiles for each of his last six or so fights (30-day, 7-day, and day-before weigh-ins)--for instance, his 30-day weigh in for his last six fights was 165 and change (for the Wade fight, he was 164 flat!). Natural MWs are more around 175 or so on their 30-day.

GGG's 30-day weigh-ins are in fact not far off those for a typical WW (imagine GGG fighting in 8 oz gloves)

    That's he should be wearing.

I honestly think that those extra few lbs would kill him. 2lb and rehydration clause affected Alvarez vs PBF. A few lbs made Geale look like a waxwork vs Cotto. If it were that easy for GGG to hit 154 then why did he not do 155 and whoop Canelo at the weight?

He'd do 154 for the Floyd payday imho, but his performance would suck. He's not a kid anymore able to balloon up and down in weight.

I honestly don't see a fair weight for GGG to fight Floyd at.

160 is obviously unfair to Floyd.

GGG was always pretty clear in rejecting Canelo's insistence on the 155 catchweight: i'm your mandatory challenger for the WBC middleweight strap, the fight therefore must be at middleweight.

(We obviously don't know for sure, but i think he would have had the same position if canelo-weight was 159)

So the only question i suppose is whether to believe GGG. Personally i do because his position is consistent with his general view, which he's stated publicly: catchweights for title fights are disrespectful to the sport--weight classes exist for a reason.

no question your "few extra pounds" argument applies in many cases, but having to dry out an extra two pounds in an era when massive weight cutting is already so prevalent among the elite is, at least in my opinion, very different from the situation in which a fighter is five pounds from the MW limit 30 days before the fight

(that said, GGG's decision to begin his pro career at MW and remain there might just reflect his view that nutritional deprivation and his standard seven-hour-per-day training regimen don't mix. And from what i've read, i don't think he'll be hiring a nutritionist anytime soon (eg, he lists his favorite food as "meat")
