Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread or not, but anybody remember Floyd talking about fighting the winner of Martinez/ Williams a while back? I do beleive it was before there rematch, when Sergio crumbled Williams... Floyd never spoke of that fight again that I saw. He's kept Sergio's name out of his mouth for a while really.

30 year old Dawson challenges Ward at 168. Ward accepts, whoops his ass, and people kill Ward for draining Dawson. 38 year old Martinez says he would come down to 154 from 160 to fight Mayweather, Mayweather declines, and Mayweather gets lambasted for not taking the fight. There are always people waiting in the wings to complain about just about every decision that is made in boxing.

Not even worth arguing.. Mayweather accepts and wins, Martinez was drained. Mayweather declines, he's ducking. Anyone who says it's different is lying and shouldn't be taken seriously. You don't have to like Mayweather to speak the truth.

Don't talk about dying in the ring or health when floyd carefully manages his opposition & takes no risks in fights. If Sergio was a tad smaller he'd put floyd to sleep like the bigger granite chin p-will simple as that .

:yep, people don't like bringing this up.If I remember correctly before fight floyd said that fight made the most sense, after both bouts he was nowhere to be found.

So basically you want Floyd to move up in weight to get knocked out or defeated? All of those fighters either got knocked out or took loses when they moved up in weight to "challenge" themselves. That is what you are indirectky saying. You think you are smarter than Floyd Mayweather? Its apparent that he realizes that he is not as his most effective at a 6th or 7th weight class. But just because your pansy ass hates him for his success and contribution to the sport of boxing, you would rather see an ATG move up to his 6th weight class and lose. You want him to be outweighed by a guy 20lbs heavier because you deep down you are bitter at his success. Sergio Martinez is fighting at his 3rd weight class, yet you arent pushing for him to move up to his 4th, 5th, or even 6th weight class. Martinez's 6th weight class would be LHW. Why no push for Martinez to fight Hopkins or Dawson? MW would be Floyds 6th weight class yet you call him a ***** for not moving up there? On top of that you look at Sergio as and admirable figure for wanting to camp out in his 3rd weight class and call out smaller fighters and wont even move up to his 4th or 5th weight class.

'It's a disgrace what they (Pacquiao's camp) are asking,' Martinez, a former cyclist and soccer player who came late to boxing, said in Madrid after a training session at a local gym.

'It would be better if they just said they didn't want to fight me, because they know I'll knock him out.'

Martinez was scathing about Pacquiao, saying the Filipino did not deserve to be considered the world's best.

'I don't know when the last time was that Pacquaio took on one of the best pound-for-pound fighters,' Martinez said.

The difference is, the fight is only makeable at 154, since Floyd peaked out there. Ward is only in his 1st division, really no reason not to go up one and snatch that second lineal belt, there for the taking. Plus, Martinez is smaller at his weight than Dawson, and has more creds at the weight below. Plus, Ward is not really getting all that much **** for it. He doesn't get much credit for the win from some forum posters, but that's a couple of dozen dudes. He's gone up in most p4p rankings afterwards, definitely a net positive

its aload or rubbish that,,hes only movin up 7lbs.. flloyd is a natural 147lber hes not fought at a lesser weight for 7 years, if he really was at such a disadvantage at the weight why did he drag marquez and hatton upto 147 and not just meet them at 140??

what does it matter at what weight started off at when he was a teenager?? hes grown into his frame now and is rarely outsized, i honestly think hed really struggle making any lesser weight

fact is floyd is a 'champion' at 154, he'll quite happily call himself a 5 weight champion or whatever but when a serious chalenger comes up all of a sudden hes too small for the weight and hes gotta think about his health, suppose a washed up cotto and DLH are acceptable but the likes of canelo and martinez at the same weight is a whole different animal.. he'll happily take the accolades of the division but wont take any serious fights in the division

    EDIT:
got the marquez bit wrong, the fight was agreed for a catchweight fight & floyd failed to make weight which proves my point more

The Martinez fight is not going to happen.... Who would have predicted this ?

If he fought Cotto at 154 in his last fight, then theres no reason at all why he cant fight Martinez at 154 . Martinez would happily come down to 154 to make this fight .

Floyd has won more belts at 154 than Martinez has . So I dont see the problem .

But then again Martinez is a threat , so i dont know why im wasting my energy . Floyd is never going to change .
