Surprising yet at the same time expected Martinez is a damn middle weight, to me the only way this fight matters is at 160. But I'll quote Andre Ward on this you don't call out fighters 2/3 weight division below you.

this is funny to me because if you look at it Mayweather fought a guy Mosley who was just ducked by Pacquiao and Marquez a guy who basically whipped Pacquiao's ass twice at that point.
while Pacquiao fought 5 guys all coming off loses, 3 of them coming off brutal KO losses and two of em coming off loses to Mayweather.

I know all of that and remember it like it was yesterday. I also do remember while things were going smooth with the negotiations for March, all of a sudden Mayweather came up with his blood testing demands to completely kill it and use it as an excuse to cruise away from this fight claiming "IF HE CLEAN HE TAKE THE TEST". Please man, I'm not 10 years old to believe this bollocks especially when Mayweather proved it with his inactivity shortly after.

Negotiation started in December of 2009 and carried through into January of 2010.

The additional PED testing requests were already being commented on in December 2009 as well..... This wasn't an 11th hour request.

"Two weeks ago, Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, told ESPN.com that their side had no problem with Olympic style testing.

"I have no problem with the testing whatsoever," Roach said then. "They can do whatever kind of drug testing they want. They're scared of Manny and scared of his power. He'll pass any test in the world."

ESPN article dated December 23rd 2009... That means 2 weeks earlier they were already talking about the testing request Scar. You're wrong on this one.

Basically, Roach said they had no problem with testing on approximately December 9th 2009. People acting like Mayweather brought this up at the last minute need to stop smoking so much weed. And I love weed....

They negotiated in 2009 after the Cotto bout. negotiations were called off around late December IIRC

Pac WAS in the driver's seat. He pretty much had say in everything and Floyd agreed, to who enters the ring first, the glove size, and even inventing his own overweight clauses. Floyd agreed to it all.

Floyd asked for one thing for both of them to do, and Pac wouldn't do it. He said 30 days, who needs a month cut off? Especially when he got caught LYING because he gave blood for Hatton 2 weeks out.

Then he comes crawling back 2 years later after he gets embarrassed by Marquez? and was now willing  Spare me.

It might have been unimpressive to you but it sure as hell impressed Mayweather far enough to implement a new rule for his fights. Surely he didn't start that out of nothing, right? Watch him tell you about how impressive it was here.

"I may move up in weight but I sure as hell didn't walk over fighters"

    "He walked through Cotto!"

"Cotto can't knock down Mosley but he can can?"

He asked for something at the wrong time. First they had issues with money only to settle it then he decided to bring this up. Fact is, Pacquiao didn't need to bow down to anyone's rules nor demands at this point especially when he already had other options to consider. Pacquiao went on to have six fights while Mayweather had three.

"I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken because, frankly, I don't know anyone who really does. But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night. " -- Floyd Mayweather in December 2009.

So what was Pacquiao's excuse again? That's right... bull**** ones.

As far as I remember, the negotiations were for a fight in March 2010. Everything was going well only to see Mayweather bring up random blood and urine testing to finally kill it.

May believed Pacquiao was on the juice, no doubt Pacquiao was a beast back then. There were all kinds of BS blocking the fight from both sides, everyone can point the finger but this is old news. Funny how a Sergio vs mayweather thread got turned into PAC vs May.

Freddie Roach commented on Pacquiao being ok for any testing demands on December 11th 2009. This request was in the contract from the beginning. Stop acting like it was an 11th hour request. IT WAS IN THE CONTRACT THE ENTIRE TIME!

If that was the excuse for nixing the fight, then don't you think Pacquiao's team should have said something right away? They didn't until Mayweather was ready to sign on the dotted line and agreed to all their requests. They got shook and made up a bunch of excuses before having their boy fight a guy coming off a loss instead of Mayweather.

Total ****ing bull**** move. FOUGHT A GUY COMING OFF A LOSS!!!! The fact anybody defends that is bull****.

I don't care if anyone had a problem with it or not, in the end Pacquiao had a problem with it so the fight was called off. It wasn't Pacquiao who decided to bring up new demands for this one fight. Mayweather demanded it and got a "No" for it so the fight was called off. I blame the one who started it.
