theres two sides too the story 1 of floyd making lp quit 1 of lp and floyd having an even sparring session and lp talking a bunch of **** at the end rumors suck...
If he gave him hell then that's good, that's what sparring partners are brought for, they're there for you to test certain stuff against and see how you can get away with it.
Ill go with the first one. Unless PBF was sparring Mayorga no ones talking more **** than Floyd or at least thats how it use to be :huh
I read that they were sparring 4 min rounds with only 15 seconds in between each round. LP gassed in the end which spawned much taunting and ridicule from Floyd.
Heard that LP gave mayweather hell. The way the Mayweather camp described is that they worked LP until he quit. But that was their version. Somebody did a little snooping around and talked to a person that was actually there but due to being close to the Mayweather camp, asked not to be named. The unnamed person said that LP handled his business well against mayweather and it was very competitive. LP was using 18ounce and out of shape while floyd used 14ounce. The source said that if somebody had a camera taping the session, it would be embarrassing for the Mayweather camp. Again these are sparring sessions. Who knows what really happened.
Wouldn't put too much into it. It's sparring. There are wars in the gym, and there are wars in real fights. I'd put more emphasis on the real fights.
I guess even Floyd has bad days, bad sparring sessions? Paul Spadafora has been crowing about getting the better of Floyd in a sparring session for years.Besides shooting some chick that seems to be Paul's main claim to fame. Over the years I've heard about other famous "upsets" in training, like a then young Cassius Clay dominating and taunting Ingemar Johannsen who was getting ready for his third fight with Floyd Patterson. Ali himself used to get banged around sparring. I wouldn't make too much of it.Floyd seems to box just fine when it counts.
Yeah. I rather just find out who wins. Sparring is sparring. What matters is what happens in the ring.
Sparring becomes more important though when you have been away 2 years. A fighter wants to test where he stands after that long layoff.
There is a serious risk of ring rust after a 2 years layoff and you want to shook it off with hard sparring. So, more weight is definitley put in sparring as PBf has not been in action regularly for a while. Leonard did the same thing for Hagler.
