"Shane aint never beat a black fighter since he lost(to Wright),..he's only been fighting Mexican fighters since Forrest and Winky beat him, and hell Oscar beat him the second time"

editor's note: Shane has fought two Puerto Ricans and a Nicaraguan since losing to Wright.

Floyd is partially right. Shane has not beat a black fighter since he lost Wright. In fact, he hasn't beat a black fighter in almost 10 years. Shane hasn't fought a black fighter since Wright almost 6 years ago. Floyd Jr. hasn't fought a black fighter in 4 years. It's interesting that the sports' top two black fighters haven't fought any black fighters in a combined almost 10 years.

So? What is there about being "black" that is any different? Black people aren't better boxers, they don't have one strict style, they aren't nessecarily faster or harder hitting, they don't have a bigger heart, better chin or more stamina.

I'm not someone who thinks race should be a taboo, but there is just no relevance to what he's saying. It means nothing at all. I don't understand how anyone can think there is a point to be made.

Was Mosley scheduled to fight Berto before the Mayweather fight?

There is a very interesting point in all of this. Black fighters, especially Black Americans, are generally not big ticket sellers. There are plenty of them that fly under the radar because they represent too much risk for too little of a reward. Two of the top fighters in the sport are Black Americans, and neither of them have given another Black American(who are in a position that both of these guys were once in) an opportunity.

i don't see why shane has to beat a black fighter just to beat floyd. it's all to do with ability, not what colour fighter you beat. the mayweathers aren't too bright though are they?

I don't think I'll ever understand the American obsession with race.

To be fair to Floyd Sr., Blacks and Mexicans tend to have different fighting stlyes. However, he doesn't point out that Blacks and Puerto Ricans often have similar styles. He also fails to point out that his own son hasn't fought a black fighter in 4 years himself.
