I don't know what your problem is. Sr. correctly pointed out that Mosley has not fought a black fighter since Wright. That's a fact. What's your opinion on the U.S.A having 50 states?

'WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME FLOYD MAYWEATHER FOUGHT SOMEONE WITH RED HAIR???'

'VITALI KLITSCHKO HASN'T FOUGHT ANYONE WITH A PROMINENT BIRTHMARK IN A WHILE - IS HE SCARED OF THEM?'

'KELLY PAVLIK'S LAST TWELVE OPPONENTS HAVE ALL HAD SHOE SIZE TEN OR LARGER - IS HE BEING MATCHED TO AVOID PETITE FEET?'

This constant categorizing and classifying is absurd. As is many posters' obsession with black boxers, as if they are a set group and possess a set style. It's absolute bollocks. We could all name numerous active black boxers who fight completely differently. Why not make a thread on why Shane Mosley hasn't fought someone with green eyes lately? ****ing pointless.

He was going to fight Matt Hatton at one point it seemed, so he doesn't fear the red heads.

I have, however, noticed his seeming reluctance to get into the ring with fighters who are fans of Michael Jackson's music.

The problem with you, and most people on this forum, is that you opperate too much off of assumptions. Being perfectly honest here, I hadn't even realized that Shane hadn't fought a black fighter in almost 6 years until Floyd Sr. pointed it out. That stood out to me. Blacks usually have done very well at around that weightclass. So for a top level fighter, especially a black one, to have not fought another black fighter over a 6 year period is rare. Now there are several things this could imply.

Maybe Mosley feels that the risk/reward factor of the top black fighters in his weigh class wasn't in his favor. Maybe there simply aren't many good black fighters around that weight class anymore, or maybe it's just simply a coincidence. I thought it was interesting and worth discussing.

Now I know people here don't react well to any issue here that are related to race. They get over defensive and start accusing people of being racist. My approach towards race is different though. I'm an objective and open minded person. To me it seems highly unlikely that a top level black fighter at that weight class not fighting another black fighter in six years is merely a coincidence. Now this doesn't mean that I feel a particular race is neccesarily better or suprerior to another. There are different monetary implications that can go along racial lines that have to be factored in. You also have to be open minded enough to realize that there are different athletic attributes that different ethnic groups/nationalities excel at more so than others. This of course can affect how a particular group of people, in general, approach the sport of boxing. Fighting styles are of course always a factor when choosing opposition.

    better techincal boxers

    more athletic

    faster

    smarter

    slicker

    born to fight :hey

when mayweather sr says shane has not fought a black fighter, hes talking about a style of boxing the most use when they are taught at an early age

african amercan boxers use more movemovenment with there legs and feet.then throw more jabs and feints and counter punch pretty good.naturally slick fighter until they find one they perfer better.shane has been fighting mexican and purtorican slugger and one boxer.
its not shane fought though.his fight with judah and berto feel through.i easily see the point mayweather sr is making.

all the races in boxing fight different.euros have there style, mexicans have there style and blacks have there styles etc etc.no big secret or deal to me.mayweather was just making a point.

It's amazing how many things people don't notice until Floyd Mayweather Snr points them out to them.

    Mosley's avoiding black fighters

Freddie Roach has never trained anyone good

    Pacquiao's on bullet proof drugs

The list goes on and on...

I have a bit of a problem with this. I can't say blacks are bette technical boxers. That all has to do with training. There are plenty of technical boxers from all walks of life. As far as athleticism, there are so many different attributes that make up athleticism. It's impossible to pick one group as the most athletic. I would agree that blacks tend to be faster and slicker. As far as smarts, I dissagree there. No group really has an advantage, that's all about experience and coaching. Born to fight? I'm not sure what you mean by that.

This is pretty accurate. However, the money element needs to be addressed. Blacks generally aren't big ticket sellers. So if you're a good, black fighter you're going to be looked upon as carrying too much risk for too little reward.
