cant stand these Floyd fans. He was a great fighter for his time, but his time is gone. Pac is dominating the sport now, so really the chearleaders need to be talking about Floyd like they talk about a retired fighter, he is irrelevant right now

Its noticeable how Floyd’s opposition tailed of after lightweight. Since then DLH, Mosely, Mitchell, Baldomir, Corley etc were all 34+. Most were not great fighters anyway, certainly not anything to write home about. Marquez was 37 and moved up two weight divisions.

To be honest Mayweather's standing almost has to be reduced. Obviously, he's a good fighter and deserves to be ranked among the best of this era. But, didn't really test himself enough and was happy just to coast it. If his career defining win was agaisnt DLH, who had already been beaten by Mosely and Trinidad what does that say?

Justifiably heralded in his time and will certainly feature in ATG lists. Looking at the other names in the article, Leonard, Duran, Chavez - not sure he quite scaled those heights. Leonard stepping up and beating Hagler is such a landmark fight, can't recall Mayweather ever equalling it.

Some "elite" and "strong" picks are baffling and inconsistent.

Floyd was once a prodigy. People was expecting more from him as new strong names showed up. He could've improved and cemented his status after such record by defeating or by just fighting Cotto, Margarito and Pacquiao - the only remaining clamored fights that could've built his legacy. Unfortunately, "legacy don't pay bills" as he said. Well, this is what he got.
