Floyd Mayweather supporters will never understand.

The really "SAD" part about this post...is that you honestly believe that fans and/or supporters of PBF will "never understand" this thread. REALLY???

All of the fights that people (including you) believe that there was NO REAL risk for Floyd, were fights that all the critics, Boxing gurus...etc thought would be Floyd's toughest fight. I remember them (especially Brian Kenney of ESPN) and all the ESB posters saying the same **** "Gatti is a TRUE WARRIOR, Floyd has never fought a fighter like Gatti" - "Baldomir easily beat on of the fastest fighters in the sport in Zab Judah and Floyd will be pressured the whole fight and could see his first lost"...and thats a quote from Dan Rafeal ESPN.

Then After he beats them BADLY...Here comes the B.S. "Oh he cherry picked them" - "There was NO risk"...Blah FU**ING Blah!!!!

Oscar would only fight Floyd at 154lbs...a weight in which Oscar had fought 6 times and 1 fight at 160lbs...Yet Floyd has never fought above 147lbs. Then later, Oscar fights Manny Pacquio, another smaller fighter. Yet NO-ONE was saying "HE'S ONLY PICKING ON SMALLER FIGHTERS". But when PBF fights JMM....ALL of a sudden..."He's picking on smaller fighters" -"BOO FU**CKING HOO!!!"

Then Floyd fights an UNDEFEATED Ricky Hatton, a fight that everyone wanted to see...hmmm, And guess what all the critics, gurus and ESB posters were saying..."Hatton will attack Floyd Aggressively for 12 rounds" - "Floyd has never fought a Euro Brawler who will hunt hint down"...Blah FU**ING Blah. Is there a need to remind you of the result????

So then Floyd Retires...UNDEFEATED. With a resume full of fights that the critics, gurus and Boxing forum posters wanted to see....The wanted the fight with Corales, They wanted to see the Castillo fight...and after the "Controversial" first fight, they wanted a REMATCH, THEY GOT IT!!! Same with Gatti, and I remember an Interview with ESPN's Brian Kenney, he asked Floyd..."Floyd Carlos Baldomir in the linear Champ, Why are you not fighting him?" And as always Floyd evades the question (something I hate that he does), but that same night in "ALL" the Boxing Forums..."FLOYD'S AFRAID OF BALDOMIR" - "HE'S A COWARD"...Blah FU**ING Blah!!!

Anyway...After a 21 month lay-off, he fights JMM. And he got S.H.I.T. for that fight. Yet after losses, Cotto fights Michael Jennings, and after Oscar loses to Floyd, he fights a 4th place finisher from a reality show (The Contender) Steve Forbes. AND NO-ONE SAID NOTHING!!!! Yet after a 21 month lay-off, he fights a TOP-SHELF, ELITE-LEVEL (135lbs) fighter....And gets S.H.I.T. for it.

Personally, Before he retired I wanted him to fight Cotto, Mosley and Margarito.

And for the record...Just because Floyd makes Hernandez, Manfredy, Jesus Chavez, Corales, Castillo, Gatti, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez look slow and they get OUT-CLASSED...DOES NOT MEAN THERE WAS NO RISK!!!!

ALL IT DOES IT TELL YOU HOW GOOD THIS LOUD MOUTH BRAGGER IS!!!

excellent counter post.....and the orginal post had great points but as you can see if your a fan or a critic you can twist and pull the resume however you like and his accomplishments.

Like someone said all the greats got criticized and ridiculed for something......when they are out the picture for years only do people give them there just do credit.

Great fighters make good fighters look bad A LOT...not just Floyd.

Fact is though...the only names i hear people say he needs to fight are three Cotto, Mosley and Pac before they recognize him as ATG or move him higher in the rankings.....JUST 3 FIGHTS.....that in itself says a lot because as you can see we are very picky as to who gets ATG status and where we rank them interms of ATG status.....i mean everyone on here has said 2 out of the three even raises him im mean that says a lot...even if you do hate him or whatever.

 

That's the biggest knock on Floyd there is.

Floyd's rep is based on "would have beat this guy" or "would beat that guy". And you know what, I 'seriously' think Kostya would have crushed Floyd. Thing is, neither one of us is right or wrong, because they never fought.

Actual ATG's like Leonard, Hearns, Duran etc reputations are based on what the DID do, not what they COULD HAVE done.

Floyd may or may not have more ability than any of those guys (I'm not saying either way, just making a point), but has never pushed to show it.

Those guys all took chances, and took fights when they were the underdog, and looked for huge challenges, although obviously always dangerous.

I don't see Floyd doing the same. Which is a shame, because he probably has the ability to do so.

as the OP had said, and as what i had said. floyd nuthuggers are basing his status on pbf's skill.

meaning pbf skill will whip practically anyone below 154. etc. etc. etc.
i even consider pbf to be the best in this generation skills wise but he has fallen short in terms of actual accomplishments. great fighters go up against fellow future HOF and ATG.

1. srl, duran, hearns, hagler.

2. mab, em, jmm, pac.

3. mosley, cotto, margo and pbf


the latter group could have mixed it up like the first 2. but as you can see, pbf did not fight any of them and hence depriving us of a great quartet of fighters. although mosley, cotto and margo had their own little merry go round but sadly missing pbf.

Dont get me wrong- he will win his fights, but you can't please everyone. Every PR'ican wants to see him clash with Cotto- but that won't make Pac's fans happy... you know?

We as fans need to put aside our personal goals to see a fighter achieve and start looking at what the fighter can achieve that will further the sport IMO
