Mayweather arguably had the greatest career of any boxer in history. 50-0 lineal in 4 weights simultaneously at 147 and 154. GOAT at 130 arguably the best defensive fighter of ATG Undefeated in 3 different decades never knocked down only lost a handful of rounds in his prime. Holds the records for PPV and made more money than any boxer in history. Hell yes he did and there's not a boxer alive or dead who wouldn't trade their career for PBF's.:deal:

    Any comments?

Great fighter. HOF: definitely. ATG: possibly. Greatest of all time: Nowhere close.

In MANY other decades, he takes numerous losses. In some eras, he likely does not even win the title.

Far from the greatest resume/career in boxing history. Floyd's legacy is stifled because he chose to protect that 0 and take a lot less risk. However, an ATG and a defensive master, promotor/marketing genius.. I think his stock goes up huge if he retires 64-2, taking on more risk

Is the pile of money he made not worth more than a few names on a resume, though?

I said career not resume there's a difference and yes he did career wise. 50-0 with his accomplishments and money yes.

That's your post word for word, son. I changed nothing. I even took on the shame of posting it as my own. Don't get excited now.

OK, but shouldn't a fighter get credit in some way for cleverly managing their career?

    I'm not.
I'll tell you what if you could tell any boxer before their career ever began that you'd win a lineal championship by your 18th fight at 130 become the GOAT there. Become lineal at 135, 147 & 154. Be on the Rings P4P 10 list for years. Lose only a handful of rounds in your prime. Never get knocked down. Take very little punishment in 50 fights. Be the best fighter of your era. Be the face of boxing. Be the PPV king and make more money than any other boxer in history almost 1 billion in purses. Stay undefeated in 3 different decades retiring undefeated on top 50-0-0. Then yes anyone would say sign me up. PBF had arguably the greatest career of any boxer dead or alive. Anyone would want that career period. No he didn't have the best resume nor was he the greatest boxer ever but he did arguably have the greatest career.

So money makes up a huge part of your criterion for the "greatest career". OK.

    "Career"
    ca·reer

    noun
    1. 1.
an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress.:deal:

Money is a part of a career now isn't it? What career do you have? Do you expect to be paid or do you do it for free?

Personally I'd trade a great deal of money in exchange for being called "the best" in my field. Not saying I'd want to be poor, but there comes a point in a person's life where money is worth less than honour and glory.

    That's MY opinion.

Now shush, I'd like to hear what Classic thinks about your statement.

The Best Earner. Yes. The Best Ever? Not even close. I tend to lean towards guys who took risks, fought all over the world, and fought the best fighters in their prime on an even playing field. The whole TBE thing since the Delahoya fight is ridiculous to me, but to each his own:lupie:

no way. He was afraid of being in wars and lacks in the warriors department. He thinks that undefeated means more than fighting everyone at their best and handpicked at the right times and had one of his better opponents lose weight before fighting him. He is HOF. ATG? Something is lacking..
