For many years Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been considered even by his most ardent critics to be at worst the number two pound for pound fighter in the sport. His defense is one of the best of all time he simply does not get hit. His speed is unbelievable and his skills in the ring are unmatched.

Yet for some reason we find a way to hate Floyd. I understand it comes with the territory when you are the best fighter in the world everyone is going to find a fault with your fights. He also does not help matters with his disrespect of his opponents and taunting. His trash talk or even his foul mouthed attitude when someone asks him a question he does not like. His style in the ring is a counterpuncher and that does not make him a crowd pleaser.

underappreciated? He is one of the biggest sports stars of this era and you said it yourself he has been ranked at worst #2 p4p by even his critics.

The guy is appreciated as one of the best fighters of his generation which is what he is. I don't see him being underappreciated at all. If anything I think he's a little over rated.

A lot of people don't like him for his personality outside the ring which is something that Floyd actually wants.

Your last couple of lines sums it up. That coupled with the fact that his ardent fans are delusional douchebags, and you get a recipe for an excellent fighter not getting the respect he deserves.

Attitude matters when it comes to respect.

i bet after he beats pacquiao they will hype up another fighter and put him as #1 and claim floyd is ducking. but dont worry, once again hell prove the world wrong. 20 years from now he will be loved like Ali. but the reality is in america if your young, black, speak your mind, and on top of your game the media is gonna pray on your downfall and try to brainwash the rest of america into thinking the same way

Most these fighters wont get a complete fair shake until they are completely away from the game and a couple years run by....then you will get a more truthful opinion.

It usualy happens when new stars emerge and era's pass and then we will say so and so can't hold Floyd or Pac jock strap....usualy how it goes
