Are you thinking wtf when you saw this title? I did too and this was said on Facebook after the end of the Cotto fight. Mayweather great fighter take nothing away from him but this era's Ali? Not Even close yes he's undefeated but has he went through the type of fights Ali went through? Spent 3 Years out of the ring due to his boxing license being taken out because he wouldn't get into war? Come back and regain the title while past his athletic peak? Or transcend boxing in and out of the ring? Didn't think so either.
Mayweather ain't **** until he can get his license taken away for at least one whole year or have footage of thirty African dudes playing drums behind him and a scary chick putting a hex on one of his opponents. Until then, there's no comparison I'll hear of, frankly.
i still need 2 watch it 2 know if he fouled enough . But it's a tossup between Floyd and Hopkins . Hopkins might b somewhat dirtier than Ali , but haven't got that criminal trainer , and needed more helps from d referees . Floyd might b somewhat cleaner than Ali , more skilled and probably better 2 watch (it can't get much worse , can it ?) . I think a poll is needed 2 decide between them . Flattered 2c some1 started a thread based on my post .
oh geez. After a big fight the threads get a little ridiculous. Cotto was good and has a great heart and comes to fight, but he still is below an elite top fighter.
exactly and like I said that is in no comparison to the competition that Ali fought there is not one top heavy on his resume that he didn't fight Mayweather still hasn't fought Pac and as people mentioned before Cotto wasn't even near his peak or would stand a chance even at his peak
Sarcasm aside is their any logical explanation to put the two in the same sentence in terms of legacy? I say hell no
