I reckon Pac blitzes him this time. I agree that JMM will always have the timing that the bigger guys don't have (well, size doesn't matter when you're discussing JMMs timing, accuracy and focus) but Pac seems a much bgger bloke now, I think the power would be too much for someone as resilient as Marquez (who will be significantly smaller IMO)

It needs to happen anywhere between 140-147, but I'd prefer to see The Ring LW champ take on The Ring LWW champ at 140, rather than seeing a top LW face someone who takes the **** out of much bigger blokes.

Then again, Walcott Vs Choynski :yep

Anybody who thinks Pacquiao would walk through Marquez even at 147 is being a little nescient IMO. You're missing the stylistic match-up here and hanging on too much to the weight issue, it's the style and skill that negates that.

Just watch closely at what Marquez does to Pacquiao that nobody else can and you'll see that this fight will always be 'life and death'. Granted Pacquiao carries the weight MUCH better and Marquez is not even a big lightweight, but that's not so much of a factor that Marquez is not able to do what he does and be effective. Plus it's not like Pacquiao would enter the ring THAT much bigger by weighing up so high. He actually wasn't far off a welterweight on fight night in the rematch with Marquez.

If you watch closely, when Pacquiao attacks Marquez takes a small step to his left. This does two things, it keeps Pacquiao from landing his best shot which is the straight left on a consistent basis and the other thing it does is it takes the sting off Pacquiao's punches and gives Marquez time to counter with the right hand as Pacquiao finishes off that shot and squares up momentarily.

The other reason Marquez is a nightmare style for Pacquiao is because Marquez is NOT afraid of getting hit, what i mean by that is he is able to stay calm under fire and take what he has to take, while keeping his form. There is no one in the game today that can keep their technique and stay so calm under extreme pressure like Marquez can. Pacquiao would never 'blitz' him IMO.

It is exactly that; Marquez's ability to throw when Pac is in full Blitzkrieg mode if something most fighters (at the higher weights especially, but as I said previously it's not just Marquez's speed edge on the likes of Cotto and Toni', but his timing, precision and counter punching ability) just cannot do.

Floyd has the ability to thrown when others are, but is more defence-related; I actually think he'd get outworked for that reason. Marquez gets stuck in as well as having the timing.

Saying that I do think Pac carries the weight a lot better. I think he has made improvements to his all-round technique that, whilst they won't be as profound against Marquez due to the stylistics, will be enough to see him have an easier time than he has had previously :good

I must apologise, Flea. That sounded a little aggressive of me, lol. It wasn't aimed at you mate. Just a little tired of all this 'at 140 Marquez wins, but a few pounds above and it's suddenly a walkover for Pacquiao' nonsense.

I'm thinking either Spadafora or Ortiz.

It will be nice to see him back, even if it is for a bull**** fight.

I don't think he wins at 140 either. And no apology necessary old chum :good

But for me, even though I felt JMM won (115-112) there most recent encounter, let's not forget that Pac has added a bit more to his arsenal and Marquez has been in a few more gruelling fights. Those factors get forgotten when discussing this potential matchup.

I think Pac is more comfortable @ 147. That's another factor.

All things that add up to Pac winning far more convincingly than he did last time IMO :good

I think he is allowed a tune up before fighting one of these ?:thumbsup

Although I dont think we will ever see Mayweather vs Pacquaio ( The only way I see that fight happening is when it doesnt really matter e.g Hopkins vs Jones Jr 2 )

Pacquiao has taken some damage too. That Margarito fight was one the hardest fights he's been in IMO. It's one of those that wasn't close on the cards but Pacquiao took some serious heat. Plus his high octane style lends itself to falling off much quicker. Pacquiao is much more improved then in his early days, but not immeasurably since that Marquez second fight. Technically he still does the same things that make him fall into the Marquez traps.

Marquez would still be able to catch him with his combinations and the other thing is, he can punch with Manny. I can't over-emphasize how much of a factor that is against a sharpshooter like Pacquiao. The ability to stay pinpoint accurate and punch with Manny is what sets Marquez apart from other Pacquiao foes.

The funny thing is, it's Marquez' relatively poor defense that allows him to get off.

Agreed, although he used to be able to step back and throw counters really well, he now has to stay in range more often but has upped his punch output and become more aggressive because of it, whilst retaining his timing and punching form which is the best in the game today IMO. Marquez is the fighter Ricardo Lopez could've been with more balls.

Great fight if it happens (and it needs to IMO) but as I say, JMM will no doubt make it very competitive, but I think there's too much in Pacs favour for him not to win decisively.

I will add that he did take damage in both the Clottey and Margo fights, but only when he gave his opponents a chance to get off (even waving them on!)

Clottey was a disgrace in that fight.

He just stood there and let Pacquiao tee off on him, I've seen overmatched journeymen put in better efforts than he did that night.

I agree with Slips analysis on Marquez being able to punch with Manny, with his subtle movements that cause Pacquiao to overreach with his left hand and also ability to bring shots through the middle with both hands.

****ing hell! You have a Roy Jones Jr avatar and your agreeing with someone that said Mayweather beating Gatti was the best performance in the last 10 years of boxing. :-(
