I also think that while Marquez doesn't punch as hard, he's more damaging than any puncher Manny's faced since their second fight. He has excellent form on all his shots, is a better combination puncher and places those shots accurately.

He's looking to open cuts, cause swelling and hurt to the body. And he can do it when his opponent is most vulnerable, which makes him incredibly dangerous.

Never over look JMM as long as he carries the weight well he gives Pacquiao more problems then most. He's taken some hammer of late to even though he's won and won well he's not winning easy he's grinding at times especially Margarito fight he was hurt in that fight.

My point is that you were given Roy Jones as an example of someone else who might have been able to better Floyds performance against Gatti (although his most brilliant work was in the 90s IMO) and you, assuming the Ruiz performance was the one being offered, dismissed it on the basis that Ruiz wasn't a sufficient enough opponent for the ability demonstrated to be a serious contender.

Yet, you love Floyds performance against Gatti, and agreed it was 'the best' of the last ten years. I don't get that bud'.

B-Hop Vs Tito was the best dissection of the last decade IMO.

 

They were matched 3 years ago but not anymore. Physically, Pacquiao @ 145 lbs is on another level from JMM.
Pacquiao went to the trenches with Cotto or Margarito and won convincingly. JMM would have been crushed in those fights imo.

Dunno about Cotto but I'd imagine Margo would be too much for JMM, yeah. I do think that Marquez will bring more to the war against Pacman than either of those two could manage.

 

I think that Marquez could beat Margarito, but the Cotto that Pacquiao faced would have posed serious problems.

As we've all said, Marquez would be the first guy Pac has faced in nearly four years that can throw a straight punch, never mind land one on the button.

 

Styles make fights as the old saying goes and pac has never been countered nor hurt as much as when he fought JMM.

Something else thats being overlooked is the passion JMM has with regards to this fight due to his being robbed twice. Marquez will give him nightmares and believe you me lol he will take another victory in the eyes of the fans but unless he stops him theres no way he gets the nod.

 

He has no business being up at that weight but I don't blame him for chasing the money. I'd much rather he stays where he is and fights Soto, Guerrero or Rios. I wouldn't bet against him @140 lbs either.
