Al Haymon is a talent rep, nothing more, the golden route to HBO is not just through Al Haymon, what exactly do you think Al Haymon does mate ??

The 25 most powerful people in boxing
We take a look at the 25 most influential people in the world of boxing in 2012.

By Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports | Eurosport – Wed, Aug 1, 2012 07:02 BST

There are few sports more star-driven than boxing. The NFL doesn't rely on a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning the same way boxing desperately needs guys like Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

In the major team sports, guys like Brady and Manning have influence, but they're just one piece in the cog. When Brady missed almost the entire 2008 season, the NFL didn't see a drop in ticket sales, merchandise sales, television ratings or overall interest.

Try the same thing in boxing. Guarantee in 2013 that neither Pacquiao nor Mayweather fights and the sport will take a precipitous drop. Big stars are extraordinarily important for boxing. Good matches between little known fighters don't sell at the box office and don't attract television ratings.

That gives guys like Pacquiao and Mayweather extraordinary power and influence within the industry. It also makes big-time power brokers of those who work with them.

With that in mind, here are the Top 25 most powerful men (and women) in boxing:

    1. Al Haymon – The most powerful guy in boxing is also its most mysterious. You'll rarely, if ever, see him in front of a television camera and you'll never catch him speaking to a reporter. He's not a promoter. He's not a manager. But when Haymon says jump, plenty of people in boxing listen.

He's referred to as an adviser, which is a smart way to avoid having to be licensed by an athletic commission and to skirt the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act. It's illegal in the U.S. to serve as a promoter and a manager, though Haymon does both.

But what he does is, he'll hire a promoter to, essentially, buy his or her license for an event. So, while, say, Gary Shaw Productions may be the promoter of record for an event, he's doing so at the direction of Haymon. It's Shaw who has to follow the regulations required of a promoter by the state athletic commissions, not Haymon, but it's Haymon making the calls.

He also directs the careers of many fighters, serving as a de facto manager. But while managers are required to be licensed by the states, advisers are not.

He's involved with a slew of the sport's biggest stars, including the biggest, Floyd Mayweather Jr. When Haymon wants one of his fighters on television, he gets it. His fighters compete when he says, where he says, on the network he wants and generally for what he asks purse-wise.

There's no one more powerful than that.

Richard Schaefer, the chief executive of Golden Boy Promoters, the company hired in recent years to promote Mayweather fights, called Haymon “easily the smartest man I’ve ever met.”

Mayweather added, “If I would have had Al Haymon from the beginning, I probably would be a billionaire right now.”

I think the bottom line is that 50 wants the mega fight with Pac and that is just a no go for Floyd.

50 also figured that since Floyds moniker is "money" that this was a done deal. He figured wrong.

Thank you for that copy and pasted an-allergy of Al Haymon's role in boxing

Let me break it down for you nice and simply, Al Haymon is relevant in boxing because of who and what TV Networks he can get "his fighters" on, that doesnt mean that every man he manages or "advises" is filthy rich, but what it does mean, is that if you are in Haymons stable, you'll be out on the big shows, for a reasonable sum of cash regardless of where you are on the card, whether your Mayweather, Berto or Mikey Garcia if Haymon considers you "one of his" you will get the exposure

    Thats it !!!!!

Thats the sum total of Haymon's business in boxing, ok think about 50 Cent and his connections, do you not think HBO would not jump into bed with a brand like 50 Cent if he and Mayweather stand together as 1, Bob Arum recently said he was "blown away" by 50's business acumen, the guy is worth over $1BN "NET", he knows what he's doing for Christ's sake!!!

Richard Schaefer has said many things about Al Haymon, all in reference to the sneaky behind closed doors nature that he gets things done, ofcourse he's smart, he represents the majority of America's top talented sports stars among many others, like i said he's a talent rep!!, and a good one, why?? because he's in bed with the TV networks

But he is not the be all and end all of boxing exposure, yes he's influential, but he's not irreplaceable

And who the **** wrote that article what is this **** !!!!! ????? :

    This content is protected

    This is complete nonsense !!!!!

Some peoples hate for Floyd is ****ing ridiculous.

If Floyd dumped Hayman the *******s would be out in force calling him a disloyal ****. Calling him gay for following 50. Calling it a risk etc etc.

Haymon is super connected, and has made Floyd millions. Why would he want to leave? Why would anyone want to leave?

Why I take issue with this letter

    1. Floyd had the letter in Jail correct?

    2. Even armed with this info, he instructed fif to sign Dibb, Dirrell, and Gamboa

    3. Fif was there to pick him up fromt he jail house(I know to put on a good face)

    4. Weeks later, Floyd and His family attends 50 movie premiere, which sparked the sleeping with Ms. Jackson.

    5. 2 weeks later the split is announced, TMT is dissolved and 50 signs the TMT fighters to Mayweather promotions.

    6. If he is armed with all that info why continue to go forward with any of it?

    7. Sound like a case of cold feet and 50 was like **** it and walked away. Now a unsubstantiated letter? with no authentication or corroborating witnesses. Here take our word for it, no I chose not too, just reads like a journalist hit piece for a friend.

I agree with you, Floyd is a terrible businessman and couldn't possibly have done this without Haymon.

But don't you think this is a bit of a dick move to pull by publically airing this dirty laundry and making your supposed "best friend" look like a conniving ****? Obviously there's more to the 50/Mayweather beef than just the fact that 50 cent suggested Floyd leave Haymon and they run it themselves.

    Gentlemen the beef is simple

50 wanted to get the Pacquiao fight done, and according to Arum he would have definitely done business with 50 and TMT, Mayweather doesnt want to fight, im not saying he's scared, im not saying he's ducking Manny Pacquiao, im not calling him Void Mayweather, before i get labelled a *******, im stating FACT

50 Cent "we had a vision and and an agreement, Floyd has said the timing is not right and he doesnt want to take proceedings any further, i dont quite know what that means but i know the fight wont be made right now"

There inlies everything you need to know about the issue :deal

Do you honestly honestly think, that Haymon has no influence outside boxing?

Floyd makes a lot of money away from the actual ring, Haymon is a major part of that. Why is this such a problem for you?

I wouldnt be surprised if Haymon was behind all this "Pac is on A-meth" take the test bs.

You dont have to understand the business of boxing to get this. This is business 101 and the goal is making the most money, like Floyd says.

A ten year old boy from new guniea knows that the biggest fight out there is Floyd and Pac. 50 being the conniving business man that he is sought this opportunity and even waited it out through all this back and forth mess for 3 years. 50 was patient as ****!

Now that Floyd got incarcerated, it was time to pounce and take control of the fight happening. Imagine, making the biggest money for him but also for Floyd. What happened next was something He didnt expect, He didnt expect that Floyd never really wanted the fight.

And now supposedly Floyd is loyal to Haymon. Then if He is that loyal then give him some dough to step aside since He'll have plenty of money generated from this fight.
