The hype is there to make the opponent look relevant and it's obvious any half brained hardcore boxing fan knew neither Guerrero nor Ortiz had any chance in hell against Mayweather. In reality, Mayweather was Guerrero's third fight at 147 and Ortiz was coming off a life and death experience against Berto, a draw against Peterson and a loss to Maidana. These hype shows are there to dramatize fights and attract the casuals(the majority), the hardcore fans(the minority) know who has a chance and who doesn't and neither had any chance in hell as I said they didn't before the fights happened over and over.

If they were able to hype Guerrero, in his tailor made style and inexperienced resume for Mayweather then they will do a masterful job with Khan. Khan already has hype surrounding him and hyping it through a show designed to dramatize events won't be difficult for the professionals working on it. The hardcore fans will know that Khan is a joke but the casuals tuning in and taking these shows too seriously will be the first to buy into it, those are the people these shows aim for.

If your complaining about not paying to watch this mismatch then you obv butthurt after paying for guerrero, ortiz and maybe even nelo (although matty vs garcia) made it worthwhile. Pac is the only man anyone should pay to watch floyd fight...

In the age of internets and social medias and such, casual interest highly influenced by hardcores though.

And they did not really manage to sell Guerrero AFAIK, PPV was relatively low. Sure, FMJ has guarantees but that doesnt mean he is not out to exceed that and it doesnt mean SHO willing to do it.

Though I bet FMJ did want Khan as a tune up fight and KO to generate interest for the fight after. Something to re-generate casual interest that was lost after Alvarezzzz fight. Since SHO has to dish out a huge guarantee per fight, id bet that it was SHO that pulled the plug on the idea of a Khan bout since they are the ones who would get to eat the huge monetary loss.

Floyd won't ko Khan, he might not even try. It's strange hearing a guy saying he doesn't try or even care about knocking people out. Then again, maybe that's better than saying 'I tried' and being unable to do it.

I was thinking this...Internet would explode...

Mayweather would have to be injured though and get say a swollen eye in the 1st round...

Actually the last two fights Floyd had said he wanted the knockout but "hurt his hand" so he couldn't get it(which is Floyd-speak for "I didn't want to risk it as usual"). But Floyd doesn't care about stopping people, that much is true. He will only go for the knockout if his opponent has absolutely no threat value left by his judgment, which is rare. However, even though he is fast, Khan's sloppy offense, weak chin, and porous defense probably gives him an opening for a highlight reel stoppage despite his safety-first style.
