I think he's due a tune up. Or maybe the standard he's at now, Tuneups are out of the question? Is he too good for tuneups Or does EVERY FIGHT have to against someone who outweighs him?

Mayweather has dealt with counter punchers (Marquez), he has dealt with size (Ortiz, Canelo), he has dealt with southpaws (Guerrero and Ortiz), he has dealt with pressure (Hatton) but we haven't recently seen Mayweather fight speed + Reach + Glass Jaw which make the Khan fight slightly more intriguing than the rest available. Not only will we see Mayweather taking care of Khan's speed and reach, he also will have the burden of shattering Khan's glass chin which should be obligated for a fighter of Floyd's calibre.

The only problem I got with this fight is the inactivity of Khan since the Diaz fight till May 3rd. Had he even fought a Cano or a shot Mosley it would have still been more legitimate.

However from the fighters available Lara, Trout (154) and then Khan (147) have the best chance of winning rounds vs Mayweather. Garcia may deserve it more, but Khan's style is more capable of winning rounds. Nobody beats Mayweather from 140 - 154 anyway, and Khan is never in a boring fight.

Boxers and true greats of the past have regularly taken tune up fights coming off of huge fights. Khan obviously isn't the best comp out there but he just got finished schooling the fighter everybody was saying he would never face. If he wants to take a tune up and make a good chunk of cash in the process I say more power to him. He still has 4 more fights left on his contract so I'm confident the fight after this will be against a more competitive foe.

Rios and Khan are too different classes of fighters. Entirely.

This is far from a tune up ,its a ppv and will be marketed as a marquee match up!

If Khan was coming off an impressive win over a solid opponent like Alexander i would be OK with this but since his loss to Garcia he's looked like **** and isn't even worthy of tine up status considering how he's looked ! Guerrero was a tune up not Khan ! This is just sad ,not even Oscar at the tail end of his career was doing this **** !

Nah. I am with you from a deserving it point all day, but Golden Boy knows that Khan is more than likely done as elite potential. Hes not getting any younger and had the last 2 fighters he faced, had some real pop, he would have been stopped in both as he still can not avoid the left hook at all.

So with that being said, he still is a big name and due to his unnecceesary willingness to prove how "tough" he is, his advantages (quickness, reach, etc...) become his disadvantages (flying in head first w/ no regards for protcecting his chin), which usually ends in a great fight b/c he gets beat up like a rag doll ... Win or Lose (Maidana fight, Peterson, Garcia).

So it appears that GB will cash out on Khan while they still can, knowing his british fan base will support him and it would probaly do big numbers.

Garcia on the otherhand is the future of GB (along with Broner & Thurman) so it wouldn't make sense at least for the next fight, for them to match Floyd vs Garcia. As long as Garcia keeps defending his title the huge paydays (though he should be looking good money wise already) will be there. I mean he might be younger than Amir, so there is no rush.

I can see Garcia getting a fight against Floyd in 2015 though.

hard to get quality work in, when the guy you're fighting gets knocked out in round 2.

    :lol::rofl

Khan has no Chin and Mayweather is better at every single attribute he will stop him like he did Ortiz.

Oscar fought journeyman Youry Boy Campas in the peak of his career.

The Khan that destroyed Judah is an interesting fight for Floyd. I don't mind this fight while a bigger fight builds with somebody higher up the p4p rankings.
Garcia is not ready yet and Alaxander is a total non sell.

I think Khan is certainly on Mayweather's plans for a fight in his six fight deal. He could do with a KO, Khan is a big name, Khan's speed makes it relatively interesting but I would have thought Khan would need a bigger win first after losing to Peterson and Garcia and looking very average in his last 2 warm up fights. Maybe he will see Khan as an easier fight before a bigger fight in Sept 2014 (like he did this year with Guerrero and Canelo this year).

I hit YES just because I have a feeling Floyd might pick Khan for May '14. It's just that Khan's being mentioned more than anyone else right now. I personally wouldn't like to see this fight happen 'next'. Maybe down the line but just not yet. At least let Amir campaign at 147 once against a decent opponent first to see whether he really does 'deserve the shot', as some people might say.

I'll gladly watch the fight but I don't think it will happen.

Floyd fighting Khan is better than Floyd fighting nobody at all.

    Yes.

I think this fight actually excites Floyd....

An easy quick money fight with an opponent who brings something different to the table

Floyd needs his superiority fix by getting another KO before he retires lol...
