If you're a casual fan you will care more about "more known" fighters especially when they're coming off terrible performances and a year of inactivity. Maidana is far more accomplished recently and holds a major title, Khan provides nothing in comparison. Beating Maidana at 140 doesn't change anything, this is 147 and Khan clearly wants a big payday before running into anyone random in the division that would most definitely spark him out cold.

Khan is a joke fight. Out of the 2, Maidana is the only credible option.

khan is a lot more interesting for me
    maidana's style = a complete Floyd shut-out

if khan's chin was ever not a factor, it's this fight

Maidana is the credible opponent. I think any reasonable boxing fan has said this many times over.

As stated earlier by another poster, Maidana has improved as a boxer as well. Today, I say Maidana starches Khan at 147 and is clearly the fighter that has the better momentum. That's just my opinion.

Khan would be entertaining in the ring I am sure, but Khan has done nothing to deserve this shot at Mayweather. If Khan would have fought and beat Alexander for a title, at least he could claim some credibility as an opponent. Instead, he decided to do lines and wait for a paycheck that may never come.

This is a problem because it is an absolute mismatch on paper and likely in reality, but again, I will not fault a fighter for taking out another belt holder in the division in a unification bout.

    I just can't do it.

And who knows, Mayweather is 37..... Maybe Maidana surprises us. I just hope that's who gets the fight. I like Maidana as a fighter: he has a stoic humility that I like, works hard, and is an excellent boxer that seems to be interested in improving his skills over time. He (Maidana) really deserves this fight.

I think so too. Although I don't give him a shot, I think it would be entertaining.

Khan should have fought Alexander instead of doing lines.........

Prescott handed out a one sided beating.
That is Khan's level, he just markets himself well.

Saying one fighter beat another so that's why he CLEARLY deserves a shot at the P4P king is not strong enough evidence. Especially when that fight took place YEARS ago and both men have had completely different paths after that fight.

What I find to be a lot more telling between these 2 challengers is that their trajectories have gone in completely different directions since they fought each other a few years ago.

Khan is 2-2 in his last 4 fights- he got knocked out cold by Garcia and than went life and death with Julio Diaz who was well past his prime at the time they met up (Julio was easily 5-6 years removed from his prime.)

Whereas Maidan has been on a 4 fight winning streak and has some impressive KO's against a live dog in Soto Karass, against a very game Josesito Lopez, and a guy who was arguably a top 10-15 P4P fighter in Adrien Broner.

you can't even compare their body of work the past couple years as Maidana easily trumps what khan has done in that timespan.

Than you factor in where Amir and Maidana have been campaigning in the last 2 years- Marcos has had all his fights the last couple years fought at 147 whereas Amir hasn't fought once yet at 147 but just ASSUMES he'll make a competitive fight against the best at 147. He doesn't even hold a title at 140 at this current moment, so I just don't understand how anyone thinks he's more deserving of a fight than Marcos.

Amir can't keep living off his accomplishments from several years ago. he's been knocked out cold on more than 1 occasion, and watching him get knocked down by an elder statesman in Diaz truly makes me believe this guys better days are behind him.

And while I like Virgil Hunter as a trainer, he's not a good fit for Amir. He forces Amir to fight more "slowly" in the ring and try to be more cerebral in his fights. That's not how Khan should fight at all, he's more of an instinctive fighter who needs to throw punches in bunches.

I truly feel if Amir strikes the lottery and ends up getting his undeserved shot at Floyd, the first time FLoyd makes his knees wobble is when he'll finish him off. I don't see Khan going the distance with FLoyd whatsoever.

I actually want Mayweather-Maidana over the Khan fight. But I could see the Khan fight doing around 1.3 million buys.

People forget that Mayweather-Guerrero did alright, and Guerrero has little to no fanbase. If Mayweather-Guerrero did somewhere between 890k - 1.0 million.

People are gonna buy for Mayweather. he has a lot of people that always buy his fights. Actual supporters, combined with the people who buy to see him lose. Along with Khan's fanbase. Whether or not they believe he'll win, would want to see how he does with the best fighter in the world infront of him.

This fight would do very well. Somewhere between 1.1 and 1.3 million. No better and no worse.
