Right, because there is absolutely nothing to discuss about boxing other than who one guy is going to fight.

The way the threads get merged completely derails any linear sense of discussion, good or bad. I understand the desire to clean up the forum garbage, but it's not exactly like we're swimming in threads on here and the SQL backend is gonna puke.

:conf Well, you know, people could just stop making threads about Mayweather vs. Khan/Pacquiao until either fight actually becomes a real thing? Until then, what need is there for a linear discussion of either one? (when you and I both know full well that any such discussion is going to devolve instantaneously into a turd-flinging ****** house, as it always does)

I understand that a bit (and let's not overstate how much) of valuable non-trolling conversation that might in a perfect world be a tolerable and even enriching part of the forum does get swept up with the trash, but this wide-net policy is damn sure preferable to just leaving the waters polluted as they are.

This is another example of why this main forum is the worst main Boxing forum going.

They're going to file conspiracy to commit murder against him. This is what the D.A. stated on TV today...

Show me one LA Times article, or any reputable source where it says Floyd is getting arrested. Thanks.

Watching an interview where Khan tries to make a case for a Mayweather fight, I noticed Khan mention that a lot of experts and former great fighters (RJJ, Hagler, and Hearns) tip him and Manny to trouble Floyd based on their speed. I kind of brushed it off but then I thought about it: When is the last time Floyd fought an opponent who was anywhere near as quick as he was? I don't mean quicker, but just close enough that they didn't look downright slow against Floyd.

I went all the way back to Judah in 2006. Judah did give Floyd some trouble (and a knockdown)...and even before Judah I have a hard time finding anyone that Floyd wasn't FAR faster than. Commentators in the Hatton fight pointed out that Floyd wasn't used to fighting guys with the speed of Hatton (who wasn't exactly famous for his speed).

I've been an opponent of Khan getting a Mayweather fight for a while now. I think that the correct order in terms of having 'earned it' at 147 would be Pacquiao, Bradley, Brook, Porter, Khan, and Thurman. However, outside of Pacquiao Khan is definitely the money option...Khan would bring in new viewing demographics AND allow Mayweather to take most of the revenue. So it might happen, and maybe there really is upset potential.

Mayweather is really fast, so I'm not suggesting he's built his career around avoiding fast opponents. It's just that even fast opponents look slow next to guys with gifted speed like Khan, Floyd, and Manny. But it does make me think...Floyd is known to have trouble with quality southpaws, awkward fighters, and fighters with exceptional speed. He isn't scared of power punchers, but there is no power puncher who combines it with all the aforementioned aspects like Manny. I think that Manny is still the most dangerous opponent for Floyd, though Porter and Thurman need only a little more proving time imo.

However, Manny aside, Khan presents an interesting style aspect that Mayweather really hasn't had to deal with yet: a tall outfighter with incredible fitness and possibly the fastest hands in boxing. Drawbacks are that Khan has a predictable, textbook, orthodox style and no chin at all. But that speed and length could really present problems for a guy like Mayweather who likes to potshot and feint his way to 7-5 victories. It won't be an aesthetically pleasing fight but we could finally see the upset or even a KO by Mayweather.

tl;dr--If the Pacquiao fight doesn't get made (for reasons aside from pure *****assness from Floyd), I really won't complain about a Khan fight because it COULD be a really troubling style for Floyd. But Manny is still the #1 threat, even though he isn't the Manny of yesteryear.
