Ortiz exposed a lot about Mayweather.

Now I know why Mayweather avoided Margarito.

    Margarito is just too big.

Honestly, Floyd is really a 140lb fighter.

PBF is a stylistic nightmare for Margo. You're trying to tell me a guy with plodding footwork, no jab, slow hands and wide open who applies uneducated pressure who follows people around the ring not cutting it off is a threat to PBF???:rofl:lol: He throws wide looping shots that PBF would have seen from a mile a way and countered the hell outta him or beat him to the punch all night long. Margo is nothing more than a big slow moving target that has no defense and PBF would have landed on him like the marines. It would have been ugly to watch Margo's face would have been a bloddy mess and he would have been beaten to a pulp. This fight has one-sided clinic written all over it to astute boxing fans and would have looked similar to PBF-Baldo except worse because Baldo had better boxing skills. Margo was nothing more than a tool used by Bob Arum and PBF haters to try and discredit him. Margo was never **** to begin with and on top of that is a disgraced cheat. PBF by wide UD :deal

    If Margo was 140 lbs...

    I would agree with you.

However, Margo is a 165 lbs...and Mayweather clearly does not move like he used to.

Maybe it was a conscious decision NOT to move, and Mayweather was a better mover when Margarito fight was being discussed, but THIS version of Mayweather against the version of Margarito that beat Cotto...

He would beat Mayweather. Mayweather is slipping in my opinion.

His inactivity is making him decline...

    At least I think so...

Perhaps it was just a bad style match up, which it was, but something isn't there anymore...

In my eyes, his mystique is gone. He's vulnerable now.

If Margarito destroys Cotto again Floyd isn't fighting him at 154. Next question.

Margo ain't **** man. He applies uneducated pressure to beat PBF you need educated pressure. A guy like margo isn't the man to do it sorry. He fights the wrong way and gives up his height and size. Not to mention he's slow as **** not a big puncher and has no defense. PBF would hit Margo with straight right hands and left hooks and be gone before Margo could return fire forcing him to reset all night long it would be easy work.:deal PBF eats dumb slow wide open fighters like Margo up for breakfast.:deal

I agree that Mayweather has the STYLE to eat someone like him for breakfast, but I don't think he has the physical assets.

He just doesn't have the power...

HOWEVER, at the same time, Margarito isn't a southpaw and doesn't present the same problems Ortiz did.

I could see this fight going either way, but this CURRENT version of Mayweather, IE the one that fought Ortiz, he may have gotten past the Margarito of the Cotto fight, but it would have been the hardest fight of his life.

Mayweather is just too small. He's really a junior welter. He just doesn't have the punching power to really hurt these bigger guys.

He wears fighters down, he doesnt need blinding handspeed or an impregnable defense to accomplish what he does best. He forces the pace by walking through everything, using his size and staying in your face, he is usually a late starter too so by the time you realize you are using volume just to keep him away he starts pressuring more and attacking the body. The baldo/corrales comparisons are pretty stupid, they didnt have that size advantage and relentlessness.

The odds were going to jail without bail. Like every time he fights, Jr only took the fight because he knew the guy would be mentally ****ed. Don't pretend otherwise. Jr the little grub had the hide to say he was doing it for all battered women.

Anyone that claims Mayweather ducked Margarito. Would you consider Mayweather great for defeating Margarito?

What would beating Margarito do for Mayweather's ATG status and legacy? Does beating Margo move him up a couple of spots?

I don't see it, I don't see a conversation going like yea but he beat Margarito so he is better then [insert name] ATG.

floyd already fought ortiz much more dangerous than margarito, younger and faster. Floyd stop him in 4, no doubt about it floyd stops margarito too don't matter if he was prime before, ortiz was in his prime now
