Properly disappointed by this. Guerrero is the much better option.

However, this doesn't really follow the pattern of Mayweather's announcements. He (or his team) throws names out there on a regular basis to see the reaction. I'm gonna assume this will be a negative reaction, and in turn they **** this bout right off.

What the **** are you talking about? I clearly stated in my next post that I would rather have him fight Bradley. I have also said in the past that I wouldn't even watch Floyd vs Guerrero because of how weak Guerrero's resume is. Whose to say that Guerrero wouldn't get his ass kicked going through Devon's resume? No way in hell Guerrero has Alexander's resume. It's not even close. Canelo is 22 years old and his resume is weak as hell also.

    Hmm...

If I'm trying to say it's a good move:
-Alexander is a titlist with two solid wins at the weight, which qualifies him as solid in this day and age. He gets his first career official unification.
-The best win of Bradley's career probably is the Devon W. This wouldn't come close to cracking Mayweathers' top 10.
-Alexander is a 26 year old southpaw. Two things people always point at as possible weaknesses.
-IF Alvarez or another great fight comes on in September than this is more than acceptable.

    If I'm hating on it:
-Like I said above; "this wouldn't wouldn't come close to cracking Mayweathers' top 10."
-Alexander lost to Bradley, and most say Kotelnik and Matthysse close. All recently.
-There are a LOT of better options out there; Alvarez, Trout, Bradley, Guerrero, JMM II, Pacquiao.
-It's not that much better or isn't better than fights with Brook, Paulie, Garcia.
-I'd put it on par with or slightly below Cotto II.

I think anytime a unification with one of the 10 best opponents available is a good fight. I do like Devon. There are seven fights I'd rather see easily for Floyd, but I will still buy this PPV.

Absolute disgrace this if true, Kell Brook's been stitched up royally. Boxing's integrity slips further down the toilet.

Feel so sorry for Kell if this is true. Why even bother saying there is an injury if there clearly isn't?

I do think some on here may be right though, its very strange Floyd announcing a frontrunner. I suspect he's either judging the feedback about the potential fight or he's going to announce the guerrero fight so it seems better.

If he does fight Alexander fight then I dunno. I don't personally believe Alexander is all that good but his resume is decent. Not a fight I'd pay for anyway but not as bad as is being made out.

If this fight happens and Floyd doesnt look to take the fight to Alexander and try to stop him it will have people turning off the TV and leaving the arena like Baldomir

That's what I think. Mayweather looks for fights he can sell easily. He knows Alexander wouldn't be taken too well, and based off the current reactions from the public, I too am pretty sure he'll change his mind.

Alexander is a hard fight for Mayweather at this stage in his career.
Who has Canelo beat at the end of the day? Nobody. He's nothing more than a hypejob who's camp refuse to allow him fight anybody at his own weight with a pluse.

But Hearn also said that the chances of Mayweather putting his WBC title on the line and Alexander chancing his IBF belt were slim, even if the fight does go ahead.

"Number one, we have a signed contract to fight Devon Alexander for the IBF title," Hearn said. "Number two, If they want Alexander v Mayweather to be a unification - they would have to ask for an exemption from the IBF which is very unlikely, given we already have signed contracts and any exemption would have to take place within 90 days of last bout.

"We questioned the injury and now we await news from Golden Boy which, given the news that they are looking to enter the UK promoting market, should be interesting. We will fight tooth and nail for Kell Brook and thanks for your support."

I'm sure the fight can still take place, Hearns will say anything.
