Mayweather is clearly a real JMW champ. He's also clearly best suited for WW.

But seriously, Golovkin has never fought below middle. Could he get to at least 154 without compromising himself? Has he ever stated he would go to 154 for Floyd?

I'd prefer to see either guy face Martinez than each other

So then the callout is not off bounds. He's offering to meet him at his weight, where Floyd is ranked #1. Not saying Floyd has to take him up on it, but totally legit for him to try. It's way more reasonable that Ward or Hopkins at 160.

He fought at a 158 catchweight vs. Rosado. And Golovkin's promoter did stated that Golovkin was willing to fight Floyd at 154.

"Gennady would fight Floyd at 154 pounds," Golovkin's promoter, K2's Tom Loeffler, told ESPNNewYork.com on Sunday (September 15th) morning. "Whether it's doable is another story."

Anyone can call anyone out. It's called prize fighting for a reason. Golovkin knows where the money is. Thankfully he has enough awareness and dignity not to beg for a fight that has little chance of happening.

I am a Fan of both guys. I do not think people appreciate the skill that Floyd displays in the ring. He has the ability to neutralize the oppositions offence, taking them completely out of their rhythm and then completely dismantle them with intelligent offence. someone mention cotto has one of the best jabs in the game and was able to touch floyd with it. However, Floyd was never in serious trouble. I see GGG trying to impose his will on Money in the early rounds with some success but once Floyd figures him out its game over. Floyd does have enough power to stop GGG in his tracks and throw his rhythm off and thats all he needs. So this how the fight will go:

GGG winning the first couple of rounds, Floyd does his thing in round three to 10, GGG tries with no luck to finish the fight desperately in the 11 and 12th. I saw its like an 8-4 fight for Mayweather. In a years time Floyd may have lost a half a step and that would easily be enough to change things but right now Floyd with a clear UD

Cheers bro, like you say "Whether it's do able." I heard Golovkin call out Martinez 1st then Quillen after the Stevens fight. I don't recall him mentioning MAyweather at all.

It's not just about pursuing the smaller guy, it's about not making yourself look desperate by going after a fight that has little chance of occurring.

People think just because he beat Alvarez the way he did think he can do the same to Golovkin? Alvarez tried to box with Mayweather for 9 rounds before he decide that boxing with Mayweather wasn't working for him. Let's not forget how poor Alvarez's footwork is. He moves too slow and don't know how to cut off the ring.

    Golovkin:

    1) He will apply pressure from the opening bell. That's who he is as a fighter
    2) He's got good forward footwork and knows how to cut off the ring effectively
    3) He never lets up because he's got he stamina to throw 100 punches for 12 rounds

Alvarez fails in all 3 of those. He tried to box and didn't apply pressure. He has poor footwork and don't know how to cut off the ring. And he's got stamina issues, so he was saving energy for the first half of the fight.

    Mayweather won't win against Golovkin.

Exactly. He didn't call out Mayweather. He said he'll fight anyone who wants to step in the ring with him. When pressed harder by Kellerman, he called out Martinez and Qullian.

You got it Kellerman said name one fighter. Golovkin said Martinez. Followed by Quillin. To me it seems Golovkin is keen to clean out 160. Sure Mayweather is the money fight, but I don't see it happening next. Martinez should be Golovkin's first target! Golovkin is a middleweight & has been his entire career, Martinez is the champion & that's who he should be looking at next.

Once Golovkin is lineal champion he becomes a valid choice for Floyd! At the moment Martinez hold more relevance as an opponent than Golovkin!

Do you guys realize that the quote I posted was from September 15th, and not from last night?
