    Depends.

If Calzaghe fought like he feared his hands breaking, he'd just be too big and probably box to a very boring UD12.

If Calzaghe fought like he had no concern about his hands, he's only really gotta land one or two solid shots to stun Floyd and then swarm him with leather until the ref calls it.

Joe Calzaghe can't hit worth a crap and was taken to school by bhop. Floyd is better fighter than Bhop, and lot more movement. If Joe can't hurt floyd he is going to be taken to school.

The distance looking at how Calzaghe was punching at the end of his career.

Don't think Mayweather would win many rounds though, he'd be lacking a great deal of strength up close if he didn't bulk up, and if he bulks up to face a very fast fighter his speed advantage might be nullified. I think Calzaghe would just pepper him with jabs from the outside, flurry inside, just overwhelm Mayweather and keep him in his shell. Mayweather can counter when he gets the chance but its not like his punch will be worth a **** against Calzaghe.

If it goes the distances, Floyd would win. How is this even debatable? Joe either going to win by ko or he gets taken to school. OLD MAN popkins gave joe a boxing lesson until he got tired bc bhop can't throw past 30 punches a round. People are losing the ability to think when higher weights come in picture. Being heavier doesn't make u a better boxer. Bigger = harder for the little guy to hurt and easy to get hurt.

Have a little think to yourself how Oscar De La Hoya managed to make his fight at 154lbs competitive with Mayweather and you will begin to realise why size difference of these extremes does matter, for Mayweather of all people.

if u think 8-4 in favor of floyd is "competitive" in a tiny ring, pillow gloves and a paid off judge close.

I didn't say it was close I said competitive. And it was, especially if you are saying you scored it 8 rounds to 4.

Gloves and ring size is neither here nor there, you are reaching.

The point is Mayweather fought conservatively compared to when he's fighting men of his own or smaller size.

I'm not reaching. i'm stating the facts. Oscar knew why he needed a tiny ring so he can get to floyd. To cut off corner. 8-4 is as generous i could be for oscar. Hell you can even make an arguement that floyd got 9-3. Just bc Oscar did decent against Floyd doesn't mean Joe would. Hell Hatton KO castillo in 4 and get ktfo by floyd. Cory spink boxed taylor's ears off and he was much smaller. Pac destroyed a bigger Oscar, and the list go on and on. bigger doesn't always mean a certain victory.

It does when you realise what De La Hoya was doing. He was doing nothing but pumping out double jabs and then flurrying. He did nothing special on the night, and ultimately it was still an old De La Hoya that was doing it. The fact it was at 154lbs and De La Hoya seemed the bigger and stronger man forced Mayweather into his shell more than usual.

If he fought Calzaghe at 168lbs I don't think he'd react to well to that, especially given Calzaghe is as fast as that old De La Hoya and a further 14lbs heavier + perhaps 8lbs on fight night, you could be looking at a 20lb difference. Mayweather would have an extremely negative mindset in that fight, he'd let Calzaghe do too much work.
