Jackson was a huge puncher. Every punch he thru was hard. He was tall (right around 6'), 74" reach, and ripped at 154 or even 160 Lbs. A strong guy with a high workrate, and decent hand speed. He was stopped 6 times (but only once (maybe twice) before he was past prime, LKOby2 Mike McCallum and LKOby5 Gerald McClellan).

Mayweather doesn't have the power to really hurt Jackson. Jackson was far from a bad boxer but was definately known as a puncher. He actually won the 1st round vs. McCallum who was a great boxer and deadly puncher at 154 Lbs (he KTFO of Curry KO5 and Jackson). Jackson KTFO of Terry Norris (KO2) at 154 Lbs. Norris was a great boxer with great speed and great power.

Jackson was able to carry his speed and power up to 160 Lbs. He stopped Herol Graham. Graham was a very good boxer. Graham was elusive and fast, he also had decent power. He lost very close decisions to very good boxers like Sumbu Kalambay x2 and Mike McCallum. He beat a very determined Thomas Tate at MW as well.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is/was no doubt the better P4P fighter but this match-up could be very bad for Mayweather. I don't see him hurting Jackson. When Jackson didn't get hurt in a fight he usually knocked his opponent out or won a clear decision.

KO3 Buster Drayton- the past prime Drayton did land some good shots but Jackson's punches were much to powerful. Drayto had not been stopped in nearly 8 years.

    KO2 Terry Norris

    KO4 Herol Graham

W12 Thomas Tate (Jackson looked like he was slipping around this time, but Tate was well prepared)

His resume isn't really all that impressive but the wins don't come much better than his wins over Norris and Graham.

Fvck it, I'll take Jackson by KO in the mid to late rounds after Mayweather clearly outboxes him in the early rounds.

Mayweather late stoppage, , Floyd has a rock for a chin, never down in 49 fights, and one of the best defensive boxer in the history of boxing...

Jackson has been stopped 6 times so it's pretty obvious he's not as durable as FM...

Mayweather has beaten better guys than Jackson, so this is a no brainer....

The skill gap is pretty wide in this one..

Mayweather got rocked by Shane Mosley when Mosley was ancient.

Imagine if that was 'The Hawk' who caught him with a punch like that?!

Jackson KO. Judah knocked, ayweather down, tough it wasn't official.
Mayweather has a solid chin, but has never felt power on the level
Of Jackson. Even if Mosley were prime, his best shot at 147 doesn't
compare to Jackson. Perhaps it could depend on how well Jackson
Carries his power. May won't get cute and will need to be a defensive
wizard. Even with his dad as trainer May gets sparked hes in
Jacksons domain. The snake always catches the frog!

Jackson doesn't have the boxing skill to find Floyd's chin. Floyd in the brief moments he has been hit hard has shown to have a good chin. Now I'm not ignorant to the fact that if Jackson catches Floyd, fight's over, but Floyd would avoid his attacks and beat him by decision like all of the other sluggers at 147-154.

It's a tough call in my opinion. I could see Mayweather outboxing Jackson for sure, but Mayweather isn't going to hurt Jackson like McCallum did and like McClellan did (Jackson was well past prime in his other losses). McClellan's punches were like a mule kick and Jackson was starting to decline at this point in his career. McCallum could walk thru anything and did in order to land his own good punches. Could Mayweather do this?

Mayweather has a solid jaw but it's not like McCallum's, he certainly doesn't punch like McClellan either.

    Hookie,

The disparity in skill is too much for Jackson to overcome. Jackson is not good enough to land his sunday punch on an undefeated prime ATG fighter.

    Mayweather wide unanimous decision

Perhaps. Mayweather has been hit clean and flush in every fight at 154. Correct me if im wrong. Cotto is just as limited as Jackson technique wise and he bloodied Mayweather.
Theres two reasons Mayweather is undefeated. He is elite, and he doesn't take fights
    he can lose.

jacksons underrated, just because you don't box on the backfoot doesn't make you unskilled. you think all those kayos were flukes?

Of course he doesn't take fights he can lose, he can beat anyone today. Thomas Hearns, and both Sugar Rays are the only fighters I'd favor over him, Henry Armstrong and Roberto Duran are 50/50.

  13. Eventually Jackson would land a big shot, but since nobody has ever really seen Floyd get nailed solid, we don't really know how Mayweather would react to getting nailed. The punch Mosley hit Floyd with was solid, but Shane isn't anywhere near the puncher Julian Jackson was. Jackson had the power to drop anyone, but the punch has to land for power to matter, and Mayweather isn't an easy target. Truth be told deductively your question cannot be answered with any real accuracy, either you are pro Mayweather or anti-Mayweather and any percentage will reflect that but there is no real way to tell how many shot Jackson could hit Mayweather with if any.

Floyd had a very solid chin for a Journeyman, but it was not bullet proof even at 147lbs. So I think The Hawk in his pomp gets the job done inside six rounds.

Leaning towards the more technically gifted Mayweather. Jackson's immense punching power is a factor, but only if he connects flush and hard and relatively often.
Mayweather will be extremely aware of Jackson's power and won't be there to be hit. Herol Graham was a good boxer but he made the mistake of leaving his chin hanging out to dry like laundry against Jackson.
Mayweather won't be making that mistake.

Floyd is very difficult to catch really cleanly, and frankly I think Jackson will be resorting to looking for a KO after realising he's getting outclassed. I don't think he'll get it.
