Lol. As if Pacquiao, Corrales, Gatti, Baldomir
Guerrero, etc weren’t high volume guys before stepping in with Floyd.

I give your post an F for pigheadedly ignoring what we know is true.

I give your post an "N" for "No Brains". But, this is nothing new with you. You are too stupid for rational debate.

What I thought. Chavez wouldn't manage to land 220 on Mayweather like he did on Whitaker. Castillo landed 137 on Mayweather in the rematch, when he wasn't injured.

Prime Chavez landed 450 punches on a prime Edwin Rosario. But, you would prefer to use one of his less than stellar efforts for your assinine debate. And, for the record, Floyd is not better defensively than Pernell Whitaker. And name me 5 fights against decent opponents where Floyd even landed 200 punches.

Does Floyd more closely resemble Rosario or Whitaker? That's a toughie.

I believe Floyd actually has the record for difference in connect percentage between his punches and his opponents. Whitaker did not have his counterpunching ability.

    1. 220 against Corrales
    2. 168 on Gatti which ended way early
    3. 197 against Jesus Chavez
    4. 199 against Baldomir
    5. 290 against Marquez
    6. 221 against Genero Hernandez
    7. 230 against Maidana
    8. 241 against Carlos Hernandez.

He lit up Ndou and Sosa, so those must be in the mix, and he might've done it against Corley too.

You prove my point exactly. In Mayweather's best performances, he averaged half of what Chavez landed in his best performances. And in his later performances, Mayweather threw and landed even less. The Whitaker fight is inarguably one of Chavez' worst performances... and he still landed over 220 on Pernell.

He'd land less than 220 on Mayweather. Mayweather has these "later" performances because he was great enough to change his style, like Hopkins without the messiness, and keep winning while past it and outsized. Chavez didn't have those performances.

If you want to see something scary, you shoudl check punches landed on Mayweather vs. the opponent's average.

Your point does stand in my opinion. I think at times people take the pitchfork too you too quickly for how you carry yourself.

Yes, Floyd was like Bernard in how he adapted with age. It’s why he had such great longevity. But this is a fantasy fight at 140. So you’re hypothetically looking at those specific early 140 versions of Floyd.

Floyd was a genius. We all know that. He could absolutely have beaten Chavez. But in no way would it have been easy. It’s just foolish to believe that.

It’s because of the fact that he debates on statistics, without ever applying context or allowing for circumstances etc.

None of his examples are really relevant.

You need to allow for a young version of Floyd, the specific versions of Floyd’s opponents, as well as how they’d have matched up stylistically etc.

    He doesn’t do that.

A prime Chavez was better and more dangerous than any of those guys that he mentioned. (the specific versions who Floyd fought)

    He just never applies context.

As an example, Manny was obviously an unbelievable fighter. One of the greatest ever. But Maidana Floyd caused more issues. And we all know why.

Chavez would have caused Floyd huge issues at 140, against a young version of Floyd who fought the likes of Castillo etc.

Chavez was on another level to guys like Gatti etc.

Just because Floyd shut down their normal output, it doesn’t mean that he’d have shut down Chavez’ in the same way.

You’d have to be fool to believe that Floyd would have beaten Chavez with ease.

Floyd has never seen a guy like Chavez before.

Boy, there are some funny claims being made by Floyd's fan basis.

When you look at this objectively however, it is just hard to get around the fact that Floyd had a lot of trouble twice with Castillo and Maidana. On that basis, one has to favour Chavez I think. Of course, Floyd at his best would make this very competitive and go the distance but I do not think he has enough to win.

I don't know. Whitaker had exceptional defense. And that fight was at Welterweight where Chavez was clearly not as effective as 140

Im still picking Mayweather but your arrogant response to Smokin Bert, a proven quality poster does irk me a bit

Maidana doesn’t count due to Floyd’s age.

Floyd did pretty well in the rematch against Castillo. He did fine against Jesus Chavez, Hatton, Pacquiao, Cotto, and Canelo.

Chavez struggled with Whitaker, Randall, and Taylor.

I guess the point can be made. But to me, Whitaker, Randall, and Taylor are not so close stylistically to Floyd.
