At 140 and 28 years old you do not want to F#ck with Floyd, that's his true prime...Watch Gatti, Brusseles, Corley, and N'dou before that and tell me if any of those guys truly wanted Floyd?? Oscar and Shane even steered clear of that version of Floyd!

When Cotto fought Floyd in 2012, he admitted in interviews before the fight that he received a contract to fight Mayweather in 2006 at JWW but his team decided against it because, in Cotto's words, "we were not ready for him then. We are ready for him now."

At 140 he was a titlist and the #1 Ring ranked fighter behind only the lineal champ Kostya... (shrugs) Whatever that's worth, but lets not act like everyone thought Gatti was beatable by every ranked fighter out there at the time.

the initial discussion was at 135...cotto couldn't make that weight so it was dead until floyd moved up. right around that time...cotto started having troubles. he had trouble with corley then got rocked by torres...all while floyd was wiping the floor with brusselles, gatti and mitchell. after that they started to match cotto with 'boxers' to groom him for floyd. that's when he fought branco, malignaggi, quintana, judah...then mosley. i thought cotto was ready after mosley. floyd fought judah first...then jumped ship. the fight couldn't happen because floyd had just bought himself out of his contract with bob for $800k and they were in court over money owed to floyd by arum. these things happen.

It should be the cotto who just beat mosley back in 2008 that Mayweather avoided.

Just imagine a way past his best Cotto who was smashed by Margao and Pacquiao took 4 rounds and blodied Mayweather's nose, what more an undefeated and confident Cotto at WW?
