It's unfair to compare Ali's resume to any other fighter. Of course he has a better resume. Ali spent a good twelve years fighting mostly flat footed and eating punches, so over all who was a more skilled boxer? Ali was the greatest champion of all time. He beat the best over parts of three generations.

Fact: You can't make anything a fact by simply saying "fact"...you also have to say "Really" or "For real" then it becomes a fact. As it says in the dictionary definition of a fact.

Depending on how you count your heavyweight top 15, you can argue that Ali took on up to 5 guys in it. (Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Patterson, Holmes) and beat 4 of those guys, plus a ridiculously stacked list of contenders.

Can anyone tell me 1 fighter Floyd has taken on that would be in the top 10-15 of any of the multiple weight divisions he has fought in?

    Case closed.

These type of questions are always hard because your only as good as the era you fight in. We will never find a heavyweight era like the one Ali fought in ever again!

But clearly Ali has the better resume theres no question about it, one thing I would say is that both boxers are similar in the fact they both called themselves the greatest and maybe Floyd will get more recognition when it is all said and done. Also you can clearly put Mayweather in any era of boxing and he has the skills and ability to hang with the greats.

That's a very poor comparison because if your talking about top 10 ATG then clearly Mayweather and everyone else right now would have to jump back era's to get that recognition,

Its like saying Wladimir deserves no respect as he hasn't fought anyone ranked top 10 ATG in the heavyweight division :patsch

But if you look at this era then Mayweather has beaten some of the best the divisions have had to offer, the fact he is a 6 time world champion in 5 weight divisions says it all.

Two different cases here though. Ali was a heavyweight, Floyd is a welter...
If we do get into it though, Ali has the best resume without a doubt...and by a lot too...

There is a reason why Ali is considered to be the greatest by acclamation. Just look at these names of the top fighters he beat and their age during their first bout...keep in mind he beat the best during whats considered to be the golden age of Heavy Weights...he basically fought everyone in their prime or at least most of them were in their prime.

    Liston - 31 (twice)
    Frazier - 30 (twice)
    Quarry - 25 (twice)
    Patterson 29 (twice)
    Williams - 32
    Norton - 29 (twice)
    Lyle - 33
    Foreman - 25
    Shavers - 32
    Chuvalo - 29 (twice)
    Terrel - 28
    Ellis - 31

There are plenty more great boxers Ali beat during his career, these are the top notch and legendary fighters I can remember off my mind...no matter who Floyd beats or has beaten, his resume is miles and miles behind Ali's resume. Ali's victory over the younger and stronger prime Foreman pretty much gives Ali the edge over anybody...

    Ali's Victories over

    Liston
    Quarry
    Patterson
    Frazier
    Norton
    Foreman
Lyle amongst other fighters who fought in the best heavyweight era of all time.

Sure Floyd is undefeated up until now but who has he beaten that comes close to the fighters Ali beat? He has his share of good wins but his best one may be against a 34 year old Oscar who was in rapid decline. Floyd's resume can't compete with Ali's.
