That was absolutely a legitimate stoppage, and a phenomenal 15th round.

    broke him down with WHAT?

Duran took 10 times the amount of physical blows in the first fight and won?

that was not an actual stoppage. Hearns stopped Duran

    see the difference?

Oscar stopped Chavez, physically in the first fight, then broke him mentally in the rematch

see there? just prior to Chavez quitting, you could point to the actual blows that made Julio think "Uh Oh, I better quit now while there's something left of me"

In Duran - srl #2, there was no blow or blows that one could point to

that's why nobody could understand why Duran quit! :yep

    UNDERSTAND?

one could only wish. phenomenal? no more phenomenal than your typical round in your typical fight

it seems that no matter how hard Ray Leonard tries to impress, something always takes the edge off his wins

He was a blown up imposter past his prime and still outfought Sugar.

Well he still looked like a good fighter to me. I'd say he was a blown up imposter by the time he fought Hagler though. Same as Ray was when he fought Hagler.

SRL a bit too good here, his all round arsenal would take him past Floyd by UD in a good intriguing fight. Floyd's the real deal and is a superb fighter.

Bull****. He had had 8 fights at Welter, and 64 at Lightweight and under. He was a career Lightweight. He is still listed, and recognised as a Lightweight, in much the same way as Leonard is listed and recognised as a Welterweight.

The fact is Leonard suffered his first defeat to a 29 yr old career Lightweight.

    Get over it.

Duran had a total of 119 fights.19 of which were inside the Lightweight limits.

He had 8 fights at Jnr Feather , his first year as a pro.
Nov 1968 -Nov 1969, when he had his first fight at Feather weight.
Duran had 7 fights at Feather then took his first at Jnr Light in 1970 where he had 6 fights.
Duran had his first Lightweight fight on October 1970 and his last in Jan 1978.A 7 years and 3 months total

Between 1971 and 1978 Duran was also fighting at Jnr Welter. where he had 20 fights. Duran made his Welterweight debut in April 1978 and had 7 fights there in 2 years, before going up to Light Middle ,from Sept1978 , until Jun 1983.He had 8 fights inside the Light Middle limits.
Duran had his first fight as a Middleweight on August 1981 and was still fighting there in 1998.

To suggest he was a career Lightweight is ridiculous Poxy.

He had grown into a welterweight by the time he fought Leonard. How can you say otherwise?
Who would you pick head to head, the 147 version of Duran who fought Leonard or the 135 version who fought DeJesus 3rd fight? (Duran vs Duran that is)

Poxy argues that Duran is listed as a lightweight,[ on Box rec?] Duran and Benitez are listed as tko wins for Leonard on that site too. Accept one accept the other.
