You don't understand "why people keep spouting that garbage"?
Because Ray Leonard made a mistake and fought Duran's fight in their first meeting.

"You never fight to a guy's strength. You try to offset it, and Ray didn't. He tried to outstrong the guy. Duran was being Duran, and Ray was going with him." ~ Angelo Dundee

Do you honestly think if Leonard had fought the way he did in the second fight against Duran in Montreal that he would have made him quit? The outcome of the second fight was more to do with Duran being in poor shape physically and mentally than Leonards tactics of hit, run and clown. Ray got away with that tactic because Duran was no where near the same force he was in Montreal with Leonard even admitting as much to this day.

ok getting a lot of feed back on that statement. Duran has quick feet and could cut the ring off with the best and decent boxing skills. And if he caught floyd it would be turn out the lights the parties over. but duran weakness was squaring up to punch with power and becoming flatfooted. No Way in Hell Money is hanging around for that party. Therefore Money gets Stoney on points.

Decent boxing skills? Duran's one of the most complete skilled boxers to ever lace them up. He possessed a Great offence, a great defence and a great ring IQ. He was a whirlwind of skill.

As for squaring up well that's bull****. Duran especially in his prime was immense at creating angles to land shots and was always fainting, bobbing, weaving and shifting into positions to land shots. No one blended offence and defence as good as Duran. Name me one fighter who could transition from offence to defence and back as seamlessly as Duran?

Seriously mate actually go and watch Duran.

Lol I feel I have to pipe up when I read idiots on here saying Duran only had decent skills and fought square. Its the old Duran's just a face first brawler with a hard punch myth.

The question was duran against mayweather. Thats it. I personally saw leonard run circles around this stoney. Money is far slicker than leonard. he would be forced to try an square up just like pac man had to go flat footed and try to square up.

He would not have to do that with other fighters with lesser skills but the question was mayweather . so yeah he would be flatfooted just like against leonard trying to square up.

Like I said floyd is too slick for that and stoney is slow compared to floyd so stoney would be helpless just like stoney was against leonard.

other fighters stoney would be doing what you said. not against floyd just not goign to happen. Just like pacman known for throwing at all kinds of angles, and ability to cut off ring. That chizit aint happening against floyd . period.

Yes but Floyd has to keep his weight down somehow. MVC helps rid him of unwanted fluids.

Duran had tons of trouble with De Jesus Simms and Kirkland Lang. PBF is 2 levels above those 3. PBF obviously wins this one.:hi:
