A prime Leonard is better in every department than prime Mayweather other than outright defense + he is bigger than Mayweather too... if Duran at his very best could beat SRL then bet your ass he`d put little Floyd on his.

Floyd has never been in there with anyone near as good as Duran.

I wouldn't outright pick Duran by dominance but I remain sceptical of Mayweather for reasons previously stated.

Safe to say that if there was a Manny Pacquiao around, Duran would have already fought him regardless of what it took to make the match. Mayweather being too mindful of the business aspect could ultimately hurt his standing as an all-time great boxer if he doesn't get the fight made. Pacquiao's too.

Duran got frustrated one time in his career of over 100 fights by a boxer, a larger boxer superior to Floyd in almost every department... Duran won titles all the way up to MW while past his prime, I think its safe to suggest he`d have a natural strength advantage over Floyd... who does not have the pop in his punches to keep Duran off him & is not active enough to stay with Duran in the trenches.

You need to annalyze Duran more closely IMO.

Hopefully wereTalking about a 15 rounder. The Duran of Montreal would beat Floyd by ud or late round stoppage. Floyd does make my own top ten welter list.

Keep the pressure on him with world class punching and a great jab and you should beat him in my opinion. The thing is, who has that package? Does Duran? What do you think?

As an aside, do you guys think Mayweather's chances improve over 8 rounds, or not?

    That depends on 2 points

    1. Has Duran started fast and missed allot in a close fight? If so Mayweather's accuracy, more efficient and less physically demanding boxing, better pacing and stamina should see him pull out the later rounds

    2. Has Duran been breaking Mayweather down with a bodyattack, who's landed the most bodypunches? If Duran's breaking Mayweather down he should take over, and vice versa

I see it being even over the first 8 with Mayweather pulling it out in the late rounds

Montreal Duran should be favoured, but usually i'd go with Floyd by close decision.

If we're talking the Duran of Montreal, then he outpoints Mayweather. Otherwise,Mayweather nicks it.

This fight would be close as hell. Duran presses forward, goes to the body but finds it difficult to land a clean shot to the Mayweather noggin. Floyd uses his elbows and picks his spots on the inside, while trying to land right hand leads and the odd leaping left hook. Hard to pick one here; Duran fans will point to the Castillo fight, while Mayweather fans will point out the Benetiz schooling.

Since I'm fond of skillful boxers, I'll pick Mayweather by close decision.

What has Mayweather ever done to suggest he could hang with never mind beat the Duran of the Palomino or Leonard fights, he wont even get in the ring with Pacquiao, who is smaller & inferior skillwise to Duran.

I do rank Mayweather as the most talented boxer since Whitaker but this guy has done **** to suggest he can beat Duran at his best, wtf is going on here ????

Duran has a history of struggling with boxers. You can claim SRL was better than Mayweather, but Mayweather is clearly in the same class or better than De Jesus and Benitez. It's pretty simple.

Floyd would have also stopped Hearns in a 15 rounder and sneaked a 12 rounds decision vs worn Hagler , but only if he gets his huge gloves & ring .
Then Floyd goes on to get his ass whooped by Terry Norris and gets stopped by Hector Camacho . Not b4 robbing Hearns of d decision in a 160lbs rematch , then he finally agrees 2 fight Pacquiao , and KOs him in 3 .
Floyd is a skilled enough boxer type for all of this .
