If Duran is in the shape and mood he was in Montreal, I don't see how he can lose.

Mayweather is a very talented guy but he would not be able to beat Duran or Leonard and would also be in over his head vs Hearns. People forget Duran's prime was at 135lbs but I have to say he was as fit as a fiddle for the 1st Leonard fight and subsequently was never in condition at 147 again. Duran head and shoulders over fighters like Castillo and Corales and Hatton or Marquez and would have KO'd Delahoya and beaten badly on Oscar's best day. Look at Duran vs Ray Lampkin or Leonard 1, Floyd would never be able to handle Duran, physically or mentally Duran KO FROM 10-15

Mayweather isn't dynamic enough, IMO. He's versatile in the sense that he can adopt different looks (In-fighting against the ropes, applying pressure, and countering while edging backwards), but he's not fluid in his switches. He adapts, but then goes on cruise control. Floyd might have his moments but IMO Duran is too complete and consistent a fighter. He would create and re-create opportunities to land against Mayweather's guard consistently enough to do damage or at least win a comfortable decision.

I am really worried about this forum. First Ali gets killed by Wlad and now this.

Okay, Floyd is on another level than Wlad but I thought we were talking about Roberto Duran here. The man beat a prime Leonard at welterweight (same man who destroyed Sr and is arguably the number two welterweight of all time).
Style wise, Duran is the second stylistic nightmare for Floyd (first one being Hearns for obvious reason).

I pretty much agree with this assessment. It's a bit of a stylistic nightmare for both, but Duran's constant pressure would get to Floyd because Duran would be willing to either win or go down on his sword fighting. I've yet to see that mentality in Mayweather.

Could Mayweather outpoint him, it's possible, but my bet would be on Duran getting the KO somewhere in the mid to late rounds.

Put it there way, only one of these two fighters would be willing to turn this into a brawal and go toe to toe and it isn't Mayweather, and Duran's defense is over looked in this match up, it may not be on the level of Mayweather's be he had a hell of an ability to make a fighter miss and counter.

So I think it would be a war of attrition and Floyd would eventually find himself in over his head. he's start slowing down as the accumulation of body/head punches took their affect, or he got hurt and Duran would close it out.

FLoyd would win! Duran never could deal with speed and angles and at lightweight he never had to.

Duran would give "Money" a much-needed dose of reality.

In a word, Duran's pressure, workrate and two-handed power would either break Mayweather down or earn a clear decision win.

Those referencing Duran-Leonard II must consider that:

    a) In their first meeting, Leonard, a natural welterweight, fought the right way: he held his ground and attempted to impose himself on his smaller challenger, but Duran was too vicious, too skilled, too relentless. Cuteness will not be enough for Floyd and he will get run over.

    b) Even an abysmal Duran had the fight relatively close the second time around against the fleeting Leonard. Except for the bizarre end, Sugar Ray's best shoe-shining skills were earning him but a slight edge over his fat, charging foe. The smaller Floyd--who, his big mouth notwithstanding is not a greater fighter than Sugar Ray Leonard--cannot hide from a hungry, savage Duran.

Oh, for a time machine! Then again, "Money" would probably just duck Roberto.

I thought of posting it myself , but I forgot 2 do it in the end .
This is how Floyd would have kept his O in tact even if Roberto would get rejuvenated .

Benitez was 7 years younger than Duran and weighed in 145 lbs @ age 16 - a huge man compared 2 Floyd .
DeJesus was stopped twice by Duran , while their 1st fight (out of 3) lasted d distance - slightly better than Mayweather's fate would have been , if he was somehow forced 2 fite Duran .

The Duran who beat Leonard would take care of Floyd, no problem.
