I can see both sides of this paarticular debate. Whilst he is a smallish welter and has happily stepped up in weight to fight naturals at that weight for the title (Castillo, Baldomir), I think if his fans want to talk about his achievements as (for example) being the welterweight champion, then he has to be judged by the standards of a fighter at that weight. There's no use saying "well he only weighs 150 at welter on fight night". If he wants to campaign as a welterweight, he has to expect to be judged by the standards of one. Saying that, in all honesty, I don't think he has cherrypicked fighters who are naturals at a lower weight classes on many occasions. The only occasions I can think of are are the Hatton fight and the upcoming Marquez bout. Hatton had won a belt at welter and was the true 140lb champ so I will give him a pass for that one. Marquez is a different story, I will give him limited credit if (when?) he wins bearing in mind Marquez has only just stepped up to lightweight and is now being asked to move up another division and a half. Pac is a different matter again, he has established himself as the class of 140lb and has shown he can excel at welter so I want to see that one!
