Floyd was harrassing Leonard lol. Aww, did he beat up the old guy. Did he knock over his walking stick? Wow, shirley. Drink a bit of grape juice you're leaking blood everywhere. :yep Sorry Floyd doesnt have an L on his record. Can you show me where you get your information. Oh and Floyd beat Castillo moving up, Leonard lost to Duran who was moving up to welter from lightweight.
Athletic prowess aside, which I think personally favours the naturally larger and sturdier bone structure of Leonard, Leonard is just more fiercely competitive than Floyd. Floyd - Even in his signature wins disaplays a caution - Not through his excellent defence, but generally speaking. Against Arturo Gatti he might throw two fisted salvos, against Sugar Ray Leonard he would be looking to counter. Ray is as fast, hits harder and I believe his desireand overall thirst for battle would see him soundly defeat if not stop Floyd.
Making dream matchups with Floyd at welterweight is unfair IMO. Floyd doesn't move as well at that weight nor does he throw as much punches as he did at lower weights. Guys in their prime like Leonard, De La Hoya, and Mosley would have all outboxed and outworked Mayweather.
Is this **** serious? Comparing Ray Leonard with PBF (at 147) is like comparing Manny Pacquiao to Bobby Pacquiao, just ridiculous. Guys like Leonard, Duran, even prime Sweet Pea, etc were in another league.
i dont think welters floyds best weight but i think he would raise his game against a fighter like srl and could pick him off with clean counters
Not at Welterweight they don't/ Floyd is not faster or even as fast in any area at this weight. If you're comparing a 130-135 pound Floyd with Leonard in a P4P sense, you have a case, but at WW Floyd's speed is nothing particularly special. Leonard throws much faster and more fluent combinations, has a better, sharper jab, and has reflexes probably even better, especially when facing a defensive fighter (like Mayweather) who'd allow him to fight at a comfortable pace, as we saw against another better WW than Floyd in Benitez. By far, and the much more potent offensive arsenal to go with it. I'd agree, but only because Mayweather is a more defensively oriented fighter. When Leonard wanted to, he showed excellent defense. Again, I reference the Benitez fight. Now you're just talking out of your ass. You strike me as someone who doesn't understand boxing technique and doesn't know how to analyze. Mayweather has gotten increasingly flat-footed as he's moved up in weight, especially at WW, where he's become more of a counter-puncher off the ropes than a mover at all. He rarely even uses movement anymore to escape those situations (as his opponents are usually too inept to catch him in any tight spots anyway), he typically just likes to sit back and counter. This goes hand in hand with what I said about defense. :roflI can't put it into words coherently, but you clearly don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. If that were the case I would be wrong. It's not the case however, it's in fact that exact opposite in regards to you. You've demonstrated a lack of knowledge and any analytical ability here. Looks like the General Forum is the place for you!
Floyd beats Oscar. Oscar didnt have the stamina to beat Floyd at any point in his career. Leonard and Mosley are fighters however. A roided up Mosley and a Leonard wouldnt let Floyd rest for one minute during the fight. I think Floyd could outbox Mosley, like Forrest did, but Leonard would fight to the end if it meant a defeat.
I'm not "Slagging off" your opinion, I'm saying it doesn't make much sense and your explaination is a poor one as to how Mayweather wins. Whatever though, it's your opinion and you have a right to it.
atsch So not only would Floyd beat Leonard but Napoles, Ray Robinson, Duran, Griffith, Rodriguez, Gavilan, Williams, Whitaker and Burley to name a few:yikes
i can see where your coming from and i admit im probably wrong this time as im really comparing a lightweight floyd against SRL and comparing them P4P so i hold my hands up here but still no need to rip the **** out of me i mucked up im comparing floyd againts welters and ray leonard P4P sorry
Ridiculous article, in fact I only read the first few posts as I didnt need to go on. Ray Leonard wins by KO 10/10, Floyd shouldnt be mentioned in the same sentence. END OF STORY. EDIT Just read the thing about Floyd saying that Ray lost to a LIGHTWEIGHT. Well at least Ray lost to the BEST lightweight and not Castillo haha God what a joke
Believe what you, but raising your boy to such a ridiculous invincible status is prety unrealistic and ridiculous if you ask me. Especially at welterweight where he's obviously not as fluid and mobile as he was at lower weights. Make these dream matchups with Floyd at 140 and below and you'd have much more fair results because I see him beating very few all-time greats at welter.
Take what a faded Oscar did to Floyd, add lots more stamina, lots more speed and you have a lob-sided decision for Ray. I know it's not that cut and dry, but it's basically what would happen IMO.
